Guest guest
nne- I am also 36 and have 3 children (12,9,7). I have seen Dr. Druker and Dr. Mauro in OSHU in Portland and neither would recommend a BMT for me. They state that with the current drugs currently available and not including the work that is being done for advances on a daily basis, we (CML) patients will end up living our lives like any other chronic disease and most likely die from those complications. (heart disease, diabetes, etc). I think you need to really look into BMT and see what is involved with that. It is a drooling procedure with great risks involved. You said you had family in Vegas. DO NOT even contemplate having such a thing in Vegas. It is some of the worst hospitals and care you can get. Don't jeopardize your health like that. I think you really need to see a CML specialist. I think you will be very relieved with the information you get from them. Are you not responsive to the medications or can't tolerate it? What are some of your symptoms? I know I have a lot of SOB but it comes and goes. It is much better on Sprycel then the Gleevec was. Also I have noticed that it is much worse when my hemoglobin is lower. Have you had that checked recently? Just trying to throw some things out for you. Take care and let us know what the DR says. Hugs and hope- 36 CML 5/13/05 Gleevec 800mg until 8/07 Sprycel 100mg since 9/07 Wife and mother of 3 (12,9,7) **************Ideas to please picky eaters. Watch video on AOL Living.
