Guest guest
Hi Tracey, when I was dx my platelets were 369 two weeks later 340 then 352, and within a month they were down to 101, the lowest it has ever been. So maybe your theory is right. I was off all medication (waiting to start Tasigna) for almost a month and that is when the platlets went up. Hopefully todays will show it going down because I have been on Tasigna for a week. I am waiting for the results to be emailed to me. I will let you know when they come in. Thank you for your help Sharon _____ From: [mailto: ] On Behalf Of Tracey Sent: Wednesday, March 19, 2008 6:27 PM Subject: [ ] High Platelets- Sharon Hi Sharon, Did you have high platelets when you were diagnosed? What is your history with platelets in terms of the numbers. There really isn't a big difference between 519 and 501 and those numbers are only slightly elevated anyway. Rising platelets can SOMETIMES be an indication of disease activity (which is probably why your doctor mentioned the possibility of raising your dose) but there are also other reasons that could explain why they rose. When I was diagnosed my platelets were 1600 (or 1.6 million) and they took quite a while to get to normal, much longer than my white count. My white count was normal in 3 weeks but my platelets took about 6 weeks so if your count rose due to you being off all drugs, it might take a little bit of time for them to come back down. Let us know how your next tests go, Tracey > > NEW TOPIC > > > > Has anyone ever had high Platlets? Mine was 519 then 501 within three > weeks. Guest guest
Hi Sharon, I'm so glad that your platelets are back down to normal. Don't worry about your white count, many, many of us have counts in the 3's and it's not a problem. What you want to look at is your Absolute Neutrophil Count (or ANC). As long as that's above 1, you're doing fine. Tracey > > > > NEW TOPIC > > > > > > > > Has anyone ever had high Platlets? Mine was 519 then 501 within > three > > weeks.
