Guest guest
I just wanted to salute you ladies who are over the age of 70. I very much admire you. Both Bobby and Lottie have had a heck of a history with CML which inspires us all and now there's Ceil who's just a baby when it comes to CML but all three of you impress me with your tenacity and courage to, not only deal with this disease, but also your ability to use a computer. My aunt is just in her 60's but yet she looks at a computer the way a man would look at a kitchen appliance There aren't many over 70 year olds who are able (or willing) to learn how to use a computer but you three have proven that you're more than competent. There are probably more of you out there too but I didn't want to single out anyone who didn't want to be pointed out as an " over 70 year old " . You three have formally announced your ages so I thought it would be ok to mention your names here. My hats off to you, Tracey
Guest guest
Amen! My mother will be 70 this year and she is so illiterate in so many ways and refuses to even let me help her or make suggestions. The old " I'm your mother you can't possibly know more than I and if you do I won't accept it attitude " It's frustrating for me but I have to let her make her own choices or else I get upset over things I cannot control. Another thing I have to say is your age alone inspires me. Ever since I was a little girl I have always had a desire to live until a very old age. Unlike some who openly admit they do not want to. I lost my greatest gift in life " my grandmother at the age of 87 back in 1988. There is not a day that I live that her teachings and love she showed us does not affect my life in a positive way. I am currently going on 43 this April and I have 3 beautiful granddaughters. I have very strong bonds with them now but look forward to many more sitting at my feet listening to my words of wisdom and me listening to their new age situations. I am so grateful that they have all been born during my cml journey. When diagnosed I didn't think I would live to ever see a grandchild let alone 3 and today thanks to Gleevec and the people here I am looking forward to a long life. For the newbie's, please keep hope in your heart and all will be fine. ez
Guest guest
hi , it is wonderful you had a grandmother you loved so much, I've never had any grandparents so i don't know what i'ts like. Could you tell me how she was so special so i could be that for my grandchildren.Did you live with her? It's so hard to be close to them when there's so many activities going on today they are always busy. Guest guest
Dear Esther, My name is Sharon and I am a gramma too!!! I didn't intend to butt in but I had to tell you a few things that I do for my darling grand children. I have 11 but I mainly see three of them ages 7, 5 and 18 months. Yes they are always busy-they are so involved in sports and school activities. I send them things in the mail even if we only live 18 miles away. Things like stickers, books or any thing else they would like. I just pick up things at the store when I am out and about. I call them on the phone and talk to them. When I babysit them overnight I have a little jar and I put little notes in them and I reward them with these. Things like " you get a ride on grampa's fork lift when the weather gets better " or " you get to go to and nobel and buy a book " or " one free ice cream cone " or " an extra book when you go to bed " They get so excited and I really get them to obey me with these rewards. I am fortunate to watch the 18mo. Every Tuesday so his mom can work at the other two children's school. I have bonded with him and I remember my grandmother too. I remember she always had candy in her pocket for us and just the sweetest lady. I think of her a lot. I hope I helped by putting in my two sense.
