Dear Aliza,

Yes it is strange how you found out you were in MR. That's why we ask for

our records and learn what those symbols mean and if we don't know, ask the

doctor. Write it down if you have a memory like mine. LOL You have the right

mind set, accept the diagnosis. You have cancer, but cancer doesn't have you.

I think as long as we have our guard up, we will have the tools to live longer,

because we will no longer accept status quo as o.k. by any means. Ask what is

new, what is coming and what does the doctor think about where you are in your

recovery. This is a journey, albeit a long one, so have everything you need in

your backpack to make it to the finish line. I'm called a turtle, but turtles

can make it, even if they are last, right?

When I was diagnosed one of the doctors I saw for a second second opinion

told me I would probably die of an infection, as most people don't die of

leukemia. I was incensed when she said that, but maybe she was right, I took it

the wrong way as you did, but having more recent information and continuing to

increase your knowledge will help you reap the benefits of the latest research

technology. The anticipation of knowing there is something better keeps you

alert. I'm very sorry about your friend, it's a great loss when you lose

someone that has something to similiar to you. You feel hopeless and wonder if

that could have been you instead of your friend. Just remember not to compare

yourself to anyone else, that's a whole other ball game, because we are all

unique. Why do some do better than others is a question that has been lingering

for a long time. When you know, be sure to tell us all. LOL

My best wishes always,

Lottie
