I havent posted in so long that there is a good chance that I wont be remembered but as I recall Duffey as the moderator I remember best. Igot my first pacemaker in April 2002. In 2004 the defective pacemaker was replaced with a ICD which, wouldn"t you know it, turned out to be defective also. There was a lot of pain, worry's, stress and Etc..Yet through all of that I could depend on the Zap List togive support. Stacey with all that strength of wil and upbeat post , despite great adversity . stacey is one of my heros. Guin wiyh his humor and sharp Wit! Duffey with his knowledge and sound advice. and all the others that participated. The Zap List was a very active Group..since those early days I have Had 2 more AICD's. Itseems that the pacer function of my AICD works 98 per-cent of the time. this drains yhe batteries fairly Quickly. What happened too all the camaraderie Which we had on the ZAp List? Imiss it.I just thought I would I

would give n update and Just make an effort to stay in Touch.

Hi Stacey,

Good luck on your search for a service dog. Boy, time flies I am on my third ICD now. I remember Bill and his daily joking. I miss his wonderful sense of humor.

Ronnie,I have no idea why the conference has gone quiet.  A quick look at the group shows that 255 of the 678 members are bouncing which means they are probably not getting their messages.  I see about one new member per month so isn't a fast growing group.

I sure miss Bills humor.  The last message I see from Bill was in September 2010.  It looks like there is a Facebook page for .

https://www.facebook.com/groups/63923607580/members/   Not many members or posts.I did a search for " implantable cardioverter defibrillator " at Google Plus and found some interesting stuff but no group.

I gave a talk about computers at my local school and showed the class my old ICD to prove to them that I am battery operated.  It is an expensive chest top computer but I am happy to have it.  I am paced a large percentage of the time but not considered pacemaker dependent.  I think my ticker just works better with a little help.

It doesn't seem to be connected with this group.  From my friends and relatives it appears that FB is number one.   is still used for sharing family news.  I can't seem to get anyone to join Google Plus.  I really like some of the features of G+.  I like hangouts that allow ten people in a video chat.  I suspect I would scare some folks.

Hi There;I did not know Zaplist has a FB page -- wonder who started it -- only 4 members.  If you type ICD into the search for FB you will see there are a couple of groups -- I belong to both -- one is California, the other is all....

Most of the Zappers now belong to an wonderful run ICD Support group (I am also one of the moderators there).

http://icdsupportgroup.org   There are over 2000 members there, and as I said many of the hundreds of Zappers have found there way there.AND for the record -- ~guin (ME), I am a 53 yo female who has had an ICD since 1999!

Guin, I remember you! And Turk, who left us too soon. Remember

H., and Ronnie. Jon Duffey is over on FB if anyone wants to

" friend " him there. And of course I remember Stacey.... you were just

a teenager when I joined this list in 2001! My husband Rich was the

" Zapper " (or would that be Zappee? lol). He passed away in 2005, but

not because of his heart. He was murdered by an incompetent, drug

addicted ER doc who left him without a patent airway for 50 minutes.

Did Bill (BILLANDMARTHA) pass away?

I'm glad to see so many familiar names still here, sad that there are

so many news ones -- but glad that you have your devices. Modern

science is amazing.

Fellow zappers, yes I'm still here too. I remember Bills funny posts that kept

us laughing during our tough times.... I still read the posts when I can, but I

don't post much. On LQT website too. ICD since 2005, no shocks; almost had

one, device charged to shock and aborted, whew! Just a dang faulty fidelis lead

double counting.... just about due for replacement:). Meds seem to control this

61 yr old lady and I test my limits, prob because I feel safer with the ICD

now.

Hi to everyone. I enjoy hearing from everyone in this group but wish everyone wrote more often. I was having those weird zaps & electric shocks. I am doing better now. It turned out to be sleep apnea. Since my new c-pap machine no incidents & I feel better. I live 3 houses from the port so maybe all the microwave transmissions may be effecting my ICD. I've put my house up for sale & planning on moving to the San area. It's been a harder year this year since my husband left. Hello everyone! I'm a bit of a lurker~post occasionally. I'm a 51 year old woman with my 3rd ICD. Just had it replaced a few weeks ago. Due to the "new and improved" size, it feels really different. Still trying to adjust to it. Dr. said he had to create a bigger pocket because it's wider but not as long. Love hearing from everybody. The regulars haven't posted in awhile. Hope everyone is doing well. I'm on Facebook too if anyone wants to connect there. Hello All,

I am on my third ICD in five years! I have also had two leads removed, which is a big deal. I have had two bad leads.

I got my 2nd ICD in February as it was 7 years since my 1st was implanted. My EP gave me a choice of leaving the 1st in until it was important to replace due to battery dying too fast, or get it done now. As I live some distance from the hospital where he teaches and practices, and there is no other closer hospital that has the machines,, I chose to have it done now, also after some episodes I was no longer being allowed to drive so didn't want to have any emergency .

I'll be seeing him in about a month but don't expect any issues to arise.

Hope we all remain as healthy as we can be and have a great summer.

Lynda.

Hi everyone!I still have my original ICD, which was implanted 2/2006. I've had one set of shocks which was due to a faulty lead. After the shocks my new doctor decided I didn't need the ICD. So it still sits in my chest, with the defib portion turned off. I take Nadolol 40mg once a day and have LQTS1. I have two little boys and neither inherited the LQTS so I feel beyond thankful! in MNSent from my iPhoneOn Jul 15, 2012, at 8:37 PM, "Sydney" <konkontu2011@...> wrote:

Hi Sidney,

I’ve had two bad leads, thus they put two

new ones in so now I have four.    I understand if I need anymore now, they

will have to take the old leads out.   It sounds like they took yours out when

they put the new ones in.   What was it like getting the old ones taken out?

It sounds like it’s not very pleasant.  Is it dangerous?
