Guest guest Posted September 1, 2005 Report Share Posted September 1, 2005 The Association for Promoting Social Action (APSA), Bangalore, is urgently searching for Assistant Program Manager & Trainer (fulltime) for its Sexuality & Sexual Health program for teenage Street & Slum Children in India. (with the option of becoming the main project manager/trainer after 1,5 years) Job Description: Secretarial and management tasks in support of the Sexuality Project coordinator (personal assistant); Interpreter / translator during trainings and meetings of the Sexuality Project „³ translate between English and Kannada (and sometimes also Tamil and Telugu); Co-develop training activities and modules on sexuality, sexual health and life skills (both trainings for adult NGO staff, as well as small-group intervention activities for street and slum children); Co-organize and conduct training programs and (occasional) conferences on the issue; Assist in training and coaching of the 5 South Indian street and slum children¡¦s NGOs that will field-test the Sexual Health Intervention program; Coaching of individual staff members on how to work effectively on sexual health with teenagers; Contacts to relevant donor agencies, including report writing; Expand and maintain contacts to the broader Indian NGO world (networking with relevant NGOs); Advocacy for sexual health of street and slum children (towards press/media, NGOs and governmental institutions, as well as internationally); (after 1,5 years) gradually take over the principal coordinating role for the entire project. We are looking for someone who: Is willing to make a serious commitment to stay in the job for a minimum of 4 years; Has a relevant Masters Degree, preferably with post-graduate training or PhD in a relevant field; Has a minimum of three years of relevant work ( & training) experience (preferably at the senior level); Has a positive attitude towards the full range of sexuality issues; Has a positive attitude towards working with street / high-risk slum children and youth; Has good computer skills (incl. good internet skills, MS Office, Powerpoint); Has excellent oral communication skills; Is Fluent in English and Kannada (both writing and speaking), and speaks/understands Tamil and Telugu well (oral); Starting date: October 1st, 2005.
