Guest guest
Dear , I also like the banana desserts and I eat a banana a day for added potassium. When I think about it, I also take a potassium tablet, but I don't have a problem with low potassium. I just wanted to tell you a story about banana pudding. Many moons ago, we were returning home on Thanksgiving week from our country home, carrying some leftover pudding in the ice chest in the trunk of my car. I was involved in a very serious car accident, hit by a drunk driving 90 mph and never applied his brakes. Cars lined up on each side of the road to either rubber neck or to offer assitance. Luckily a doctor was right behind me and took me to Ochsner Hospital in New Orleans. We were in the middle of a place with no buildings, just swamp grass and water on either side. Our friend's son was in his car he had just received as a birthday gift immediately behind us. He was so badly injured he never recovered the use of his left arm and in the hours they spent trying to patch him up, didn't discover his crushed foot and broken legs until the next day. The doctor wanted to know if we had some ice. I was able to respond that I had some in the trunk in an ice chest. The ice chest imploded from the impact of the collision, and when they reached in to get the ice, they brought up this gooey sticky banana pudding with nilla wafers all over the inside of the trunk. They were able to get enough ice to make an ice pack; when in trouble you improvise. We were all supposed to meet at a Chinese restaurant in New Orleans. Jimmy and my friend's husband had no idea what happened to us. The doctor put my son and I in his car and took us into New Orleans, but stopped at the first place that was open. He called in to the restaurant and told them we were all on the way to the hospital. The waitress knew my husband and ran out to call him to the phone. Jimmy told our friend to take the PU and go around the block and park. Our friend was not familiar with the area and got lost on Interstate. Meanwhile, Jimmy just got a cab and went to the hospital alone. Our friend drove aimlessly until he finally was able to get off the Interstate and get directions to the hospital and had no idea what happened to Jimmy until he talked to the waitress. To say he was angry at being left at the restaurant was putting it mildly. All Jimmy could think of was his wife and child and no one knew the extent of our injuries. Only 1 ambulance was dispatched, so there wasn't enough room for everyone, therefore the doctor took the best course of action, the boy was the most injured of any of us. The drunk just kept going on 3 wheels until he lost momentum and his PU just cratered in the road. The state police picked him up walking down the road after he had completely totaled 2 cars and damaged another. He didn't have a scratch. Guest guest
Lottie, Glad you made it through that terrible accident in order to tell the story. I don't take potassium every day either. I was referring back to a time we were discussing Lasix and pleural effusion. During that time we were talking about ways to get extra potassium to balance out the Lasix and when I take Lasix that's when I take potassium tabs. Otherwise, my potassium level is fine. Thanks again for the Life story! Bests, [ ] Banana Cream Pie Dear , I also like the banana desserts and I eat a banana a day for added potassium.
