Guest guest
In theory it should work. There are some people on other DS lists that swear by them as well. I have been using just a simple saline squirt up the nose on my ( 8 months) ever morning.. its part of her routine.. and she has been doing well sinus wise. Still " noisy " but no infections and helps congestion. Are the kits complicated? Steph " Truth is not determined by a majority vote. " -Cardinal ph Ratzinger http://360./rnscarlson Sinus Rinses I just bought one of those sinus rinse kits that you use at home since Ben has so many sinus infections and such. It worked really well and after we used it he commented that his sinuses felt really good. It was amazing the stuff that came out of his sinuses when we used the kit. He even wanted to take it to school with him. Hopefully this will help him get fewer infections. I am going to try and use it every other day or so for a while and then a few times a week. Guest guest
Hi, Most health stores carry a variety of nasal wash pots and special salts. NETI pot is one I _http://www.natlallergy.com/allergy/products/cart/display/view_one_spread.txt/sp\ readid/1582_ (http://www.natlallergy.com/allergy/products/cart/display/view_one_spread.txt/sp\ readid/1582) _http://www.1stvitality.co.uk/therapy/emcur/_ (http://www.1stvitality.co.uk/therapy/emcur/) Basically do a google search for Nasal douche. I have friends that use them all the time and swear by them. Mine is awaiting me to try LOL. Jean
Guest guest
, Might I ask what type of sinus cleaning kit that you use and where to purchase it? My has so many issues with his sinuses. We use alot of the saline spray but I'm thinking this kit may be better. Thanks, Barb Sinus Rinses > > I just bought one of those sinus rinse kits that you use at home since > Ben has so many sinus infections and such. Guest guest
Another word of caution, if you blow your nose (as you probably will) after this, do it gently. Otherwise you ll send all the stuff in your middle ear through the Eustachian tube which is really bad (overpressure + contamination). The overpressure can also damage the sinuses. The betadine solution (diluted as Zazzy said) is great. I also use sometime a product called Actisoufre that I buy in France, I dunno the name here (sulfure + Saccharomyces cerevisiae yeast + sodium). It calms inflammation and does not irritate like the betadine. In 25 years diving I had to use one thing or another a few times. Marcos. Guest guest
I was having a giggle to myself about this thread and the Betadine gargle. This is a fantastic remedy I use for my dogs when they have sore throats (tonsillitis), I give them 100ml milk with 1 dsp yoghurt, 1 tsp honey and 5 drops of Betadine - fair dinkum it WORKS! A week of this twice a day and goodbye tonsillitis and no antibiotics. I haven't had a sore throat to try it on myself yet. Up there with the cabbage leaves for mastitis. Perhaps someone with a sore throat would like to be a guinea pig? With sinusitis we have rhinocort which is cortisone based spray (stops inflammation), you shoot up each nostril and works well. Another old fashioned one that was used when I was nursing was inhalation with friars balsom - put some drops in boiling water then put a towel over you head and steam/inhale it in, good old aussie eucalyptus/tea tree oil is great too. Guest guest
Now I'm laughing ! Rhinocort and fluticasone are the one and same. Woof! Take care, Zazzy Re: [ ] Sinus rinses Another word of caution, if you blow your nose (as you probably will) after this, do it gently. Ha ha ha ha - I just love that one! ROTFLOL! Good one . Actually I had a young lab who is a real pain and gulps her water like you wouldn't believe and wound up making herself sick. So this was going on an on where she would cough until she was sick (bit like whooping cough). I read about the Betadine gargle so tried it on her and " voila " ! Within 3 days she was cured. A colleague at work then told me how her dog after having an anaesthetic was constantly coughing and no amount of antibiotics cured it, so told her about my remedy and lo and behold she is totally cured and no further problems! So ....who's the guinea pig????? Regards, from Downunder
