Guest guest
Hi Rhonda, I found one abstract from the ASH meeting this year (ASH is the American Society of Hematology and they meet once a year to discuss all the latest and greatest information, all the top doctors from around the world go to this conference). Anyway, the abstract I found referred to patients who had deletion of chromosome 9 and were on Gleevec. It showed that the deletion had absolutely no effect on the patient's prognosis for either their response or their loss of response. I know you're on Sprycel but if this deletion has no effect for people on Gleevec, we can be hopeful that it will have no effect for people on Sprycel as well. http://www.abstracts2view.com/hem07/view.php?nu=HEM07L1_648 & terms= Tracey > > Hello CMLers... > > > Just checking to see if any of you know if you additional deletions on chromosome 9. > > > ? > > > Sometimes it's called (der)9 chromosome deletion, or homozygous deletion on chromosome 9. > > > ? > > > Also, anyone else heard of 'deletion of the tumor suppression gene p16'? > > > ? > > > Ya'll are a wealth of wisdom on everything, so I bow to you.... > > > ? > > > Please let me know what you have experienced on the subject. > > > ? > > > Thanks so very much, > > > Rhonda > > > dx Nov 2, 2007 > > > >
Guest guest
Hi Aliza, In people with " garden variety CML " , there is a gene on chromosomes 9 and 22 that switch places to create the famous Philadelphia Chromosome. Some people have additional chromosomal problems though and der 9 is just one example of another abnormality that can sometimes occur. Guest guest
Hi Rhonda, I saw a few articles that showed a poor prognosis as well but then I realized that they were all pre Gleevec days. Things have changed so dramatically in the last few years. Tracey > > > > > > what is delition?new to all the cml lingo > > > aliza yaffa > > > > > > > > > > > > **************It's Tax Time!
