Guest guest
Hi , I have a appt finally with a specialist on Wed. March 19th . Hopefully we will get this show on the road . Thanks for all your help. You guys are great. Eva is the very newly diagnosed member who is still waiting to see a doctor and start treatment.Aliza is the new member who is doing very well, having had a major molecular response. Not new to CML but new to us in the group. And finally there is . She is not a new member nor is she newly diagnosed. She's a long time member who's doing very well though. In fact, she's actually PCRU.I hope I got this right,Tracey _________________________________________________________________ At a loss for words? Find them by playing Seekadoo! Guest guest
Hi Matt, Well I feel sorry for Kenechi. And those were my exact thoughts. By the way: I am on my 4th day of 400mg of Tasi and I feel great so far! What I do is I wake at 5:30 in the morning (I always do to go to the bathroom) and at that time I take my pills and go back to bed. Then when I get up at 7:30ish-I am ready to have my coffee. Works for me so far. Althouggh I am no longer PCRU my PCR results came in yesterday. These were taken after I had dropped to 50mg of sprycel for three months because of bad side effects and after being off all medication for almost a month. It went up to 0.011. My doctor said that they should go down soon since I started Tasigna -does he really know??? Hope all is well with you Sharon California _____ From: [mailto: ] On Behalf Of mtmaynor@... Guest guest
Aliza Yafa, Gosh!!! You have given me something to think about. So far I have had no problems. Sprycel and Gleevec affected my stomach but so far Tasi does not and that is one of the Good things about Tasi.so I have been told. I drink it with a full glass of water. Gleevec you had to eat with it-Sprycel you did not. And Tasi you don't either. Infact you Must have an empty stomach on Tasi---There is a danger of QT prolongation if you don't...I don't know what is right and what is wrong???? I will ask my Dr. So confusing. Guest guest
hi group; personally and this is my opinion,i think that most if not all medications beeing a blend of chemicals (with side affects) should be taken with care , some should be taken on empty stomach for maximum effect however i think our system functions better when we are in movement mode, unless otherwise specified: but then that is my opinion.I have days that all i want to do is lay down but I have learned to at least sit up with many pillows for several hours untill the meds have left my stomach all together sometimes i fall asleep in the proccess i've become an expert at creating a confortable siting sleeping space as you well know every now and again we become exausted. aliza yaffa rochester n.y. p.s. today was agreat day for I went to temple after not going for a long time it was great to see old faces and most of all I actually felt great!! just wanted to share after sharing so many complaints with you all.:0) thankx again **************It's Tax Time! Guest guest
shn; since i've had cml and taking meds. i have to fight with myself to go anywhere i've spent so much time at home, that its become the norm for me so i have lost a lot of stamina I also have the d.....m athsma especially during winter months, that shortens my breath and i'm not terribly patient with myself so I get disgusted and convince myself not to go anywhere . Take for instance yesturday , it was the first of beautiful days i should have been out there no matter wheather i was going anywhere or not, well I told myself that I had things to do (nothing got done)and the day went by and i never made it out. Thank god spring will be here soon lets see what excuse i come up with.Half the battle is to get moving nothing strainous just moving. well i hope we all take better care of ourselves so 30 yrs. from now we'll be having this conversation take care. aliza yaffa rochester n.y. **************It's Tax Time! Guest guest
Aliza Yaffa, I think you are right. I have a theory as to why I got Plural Effusion---I was on Sprycel for three years with hardly any side effects to speak of then I fell on my back while bowling and I could hardly walk for three week, all I did was lay around, take ibuprofen and I know inactivity causes problems and I think pneumonia is one of them. I truly feel that that did not help me at all. I did not get pneumonia but I did get plural effusion. This is just my theory. What I should do is wake at 6am-take my pill (Tasi) then go for an hour walk. If I could just get motivated. I am trying because I know exercise is important. Guest guest
Dear Aliza I am 65 and have 11 grand children. Three of which I see at least once a week sometimes twice. I watch the 18month old every Tuesday so his mom (my daughter in law) can work at the two older children's school in their classroom. I know how you feel. Believe me---if I did exactly what I wanted to do I would read, watch tv and sleep all day but I do not allow myself to do it. Are you married? Where do you live? You need to have a passion in life to keep going. I have several-my grandchildren, and reading. I read about two books a month. You need to have a passion!!! You need to have a passion. Yes Spring is here and it so beautiful!!! Just look around and you should feel happy!!! You know that doing nothing is not good. I wish you lived close to me so we could do things to make us feel better. Take care Sharon _____ From: [mailto: ] On Behalf Of taina2044@... Guest guest
Ok here is my history July 2004 dx Gleevec for about 8 months of which 6 of them was suffering from terrible side affects. The rash was the worst!! Switched to Sprycel March of 2005. Did real real well and was PCRU for the last year---then all of a sudden one morning I woke with swollen eyes, and pains in my muscles. After three years. I had also being have terrible diarrhea but I learned to live with that side effect. But then I had a chest x ray and I had plural Effusion. They drained 1 quart from my lungs. So they switched me to Tasi. I have only been on it since Wednesday. I was so afraid to leave the house on the first day because of all the side effects I was told about-heart problems-I thought I was going to have a heart attack so I did not want to go anywhere. About 1pm I decided I was being ridiculous and I called my husband and told him to meet me at the park, So we got sandwhiches and I took our little dog for a walk at the part then we had lunch. We discussed how I felt and that made me realize that life is too short to worry so much. Like I said I am 65 and have had a wonderful life.and I intend to live another 10 or 15 at least. Yesterday my Dr. called and told me that my PCR went up to 0.011..and again I got depressed about that. There are so many ups and downs but we have to learn to handle them. I think my PCR went up because 3 months ago we lowered my sprycel to 50mg twice a day(I ws taking 70M twice a day) then when I got the Plural Effusion I was off all meds for a month before starting Tasi. My Dr has sort of agreed with me-but y ou know they don't ever want to say " oh yes you are right " So that is my story. Sharon _____ From: [mailto: ] On Behalf Of taina2044@... Guest guest
You might be quite right there. I live a very sedentary life, and have had many problems with PE. So from now on I will make myself work out every day, pedal my bike, hop on my treadmill and go back to the pool for my twice a week work out. I guess that makes perfect sense as your body breaths harder and your heart pumps more when you work out. also, on another site I read where they have supposedly linked PE to people having had the rash while on Gleevec. Well, I sure had the rash from hell while on that drug. And while I'm being a good girl and working out, I promise myself I will quit eating peanut butter and cookies, and eat salads and only good stuff!!!!!! work out, eat good; work out, eat good; work out, eat good, gee, think I can remember that by tomorrow!! Bobby Sharon & Denny <onthewtr@...> wrote: Aliza Yaffa, I think you are right.
