Acute vs chronic and age - Sharon

I find it kind of weird that a doctor would make a statement about

someone's particular case seemingly without knowing anything about

that particular case.

Anyway, in very general terms it's true that chronic leukemias are

more common in older people but of course that isn't to say that

someone young can't get a chronic leukemia. We've had people in the

group who were teenagers with CML but if you want to go by

statistics, young people with CML are rare.

The majority of leukemia cases in people under 18 are ALL and the

majority of leukemia cases in people over 60 are CLL. AML and CML

usually effect older people but it's not impossible for anyone in any

age group to get any leukemia.
