Guest guest
Hi, I usually package bath salts that contain essential oils in glass containers. I would like to use plastic bags that are for freezing veggies---will this work? Or will the eos eat away the plastic? Do you have any other easy suggestions? A quick answer is appreciated, since I need to put this together for someone today! Thanks, Angie
Guest guest
HI! I use parchment paper and make up little bags. I have never had a problem with EO's melting the bags and they look kind of cute I think. Hope this works for you. in Golden, BC > > > Hi, > I usually package bath salts that contain essential oils in glass containers. > I would like to use plastic bags that are for freezing veggies---will this > work? Guest guest
Amber, cobalt or violet glass is what you have to use to keep the EO in. Anything else you will get a reaction like the EO melting the plastic. I spilled some EO recently and it ate away at my carpet and my desk. Clear glass will be OK but the problem is that you will get light exposure - which is not what you want to keep the EO stable for any length of time. How about green. I have been looking at some green bottles and trying to decide whether to buy them or not. Thanks. Pat. Peace, Joy, Serenity House of Scents tm. They would be fine for lotions and creams, even plastic ones for that matter. Bath salts... not sure. EOs are evenly dispersed in lotions but in there are so many types of bath salts. As long as people are sure the EO is totally absorbed into the salt... That was the initial reason for thinking plastic would be a bit dicey. Green will not be suitable for pure essential oil storage though because the colour green allows more light into the bottle. There are scientific reasons for this - something to do with the spectrum of colours and the light absorption. Sorry, I don't have time right now to look at the notes I have somewhere. If my poor memory serves me correctly... The studies about storage of EOs in coloured bottles reported that violet glass was supposed to be the best for protection of the EO, with amber and cobalt glass second.
