Guest guest
Hi Margot, I truly do not know the answer to that one. I know this. Interferon was the worst thing I ever had to take, only took it 9 weeks and told my onc I would rather die than take one more shot. But I met a man in Portland, OR who was on it 9 years, and said it never bothered him one bit! I guess everyone's makeup is different, what bothers one, will not bother another. Some people get cramps on Gleevec, some don't. Some get the rash, some don't. I never got cramps on Sprycel, but did on Gleevec, and tonight one finger cramped up when i was making cole slaw, and 5 min. later my thumb got a cramp, and that was weird! I had no pleural effusion on sprycel for 2 1/2 yrs, then all of a sudden, wham! there it was. I guess we just have to take the good with the bad, and be glad we have the drugs we have now, instead of that drug from hell, Interferon!!! Blessings, Bobby MargotM <redbudln@...> wrote: I have a question: All my life I have had serious problems with any type of medication that I took and responded with very severe side effects. Then after my stint with Interferon which was probably the worst thing I ever took, I started on Gleevec and it's a piece of cake. Practically not a side effect. What's the difference? Can anyone explain? Margot
