Guest guest
I would like to hold hands and cry for a year! I have started a very small business, just in a consignment shop for now. A little on the side. Same thing with the DH about the $, where is it. He has his own machine shop and saw it all come back as soon as he sold, well, I told him, this is different. Sure, try explaining that to him. I will be confident. THAT is what I keep telling myself. in Ohio

Thanks for the notes posted, I am glad to be a part of this group Who else would really " get " it? And yes, my livingroom is full of soap boxes too, and soap supplies and gift basket supplies rule supreme all over the house, but hey lol it does save on not needing a warehouse. I'm sorry, I should have asked for more cheese with my whine. I was feeling lonely and experiencing some frustration, but having vented and been soothed with good advice I do feel better. Sure, try explaining that to him. you might want to remind him that you're creating the stuff from scratch, and there's quite a bit of competition! i've actually given up on trying to go business with my hobby because i don't have the money to invest into it in the first place. i've even had to stop buying the supplies! *snuffle* but i have every bit of respect and admiration for those of you who are doing it! keep on going :> ~risa
Guest guest
I would love to hold cyber hands and have a good cyber cry with you. Sometimes I feel like my head is on a swivel, turning every direction trying to take it all in and make the right, informed decisions. I wake up in the middle of the night and wonder what I've gotten myself into. And money? What's that? Oh, you mean that stuff that keeps slipping through my fingers like water. Haven't enjoyed any yet, but all my suppliers sure are. I am having fun making soap though. Haven't started the lotion on a big scale yet. Just make small batches and give them to family and friends to test out. Trial and error, trial and error. Finally have a recipe that everyone seems to really like. Still have some decisions to make in that area, though. But I can sure relate to what you're going through. Does it get better? Sure hope so, don't you? Guest guest
I'll join you in crying! I'm trying to get started, but DH is fresh out of college and still looking for a job. I've been our sole support for two years so I can't stop. I work full time and have to commute over and hour one way. The only time I'm even home is between 7:00 p.m. and 7:00 a.m. Soapmaking is from 7 pm to 10 pm, packaging etc is on weekends... Yikes. But you know what, it'll mean that more more if it's successful. Sniff, I hope. > > I would like to hold hands and cry for a year! Be prepared to lose money in the first year (but be careful not to lose too much!!). That is a very real scenario. Also, the profits you see in your business will be plowed back into it if you want it to grow. Lori www.thescentshack.com ..
