Guest guest
Dear Jan, You were wondering if you were still in the early stages of CML. At 6 months, I would think you were. I have been chronic for nearly 12 years. The drugs they are developing today will be able to keep you chronic for years longer than formerly when your lifespan was shorter than it is now. Bobby and I used to see the same doctor, but Dr. Talpaz moved up to Michigan where he is working on a cure. I stayed on at MDACC because of logistics and she left for the same reason, but she is only about 2 hours away from her doctor. We have a 4 to 5 hr. drive to Houston, but still closer than MI. All I can say is, hang in there, things get better and if they don't on one drug, you have other options on other second generation kinase inhibitors. As they keep coming up for FDA approval, our chances get better. We are fortunate, no other type of cancer has as many drugs being developed so quickly. Be well and take courage as a newbie, Lottie (an olbee)
