Crisco is usually made up of oils like soybean and cottonseed and others.

You never know how much of each - - and they will never tell you. They use

whatever is cheapest at the moment. Depending upon proportions in each can,

you may or may not have excess lye or excess oils, and you have no idea

which.

But the main reason I choose to use oils other than Crisco is that there are

LOTS of oils out there that will give you better soap for personal use.

Cheap shouldn't be a consideration IF you are really determined to make the

best bar possible.

What do you think about the anti foaming agents added into the Crisco and

soybean shortening?

I am not saying anything bad about using Crisco, in fact one of my soap

testers, when comparing soap made with Crisco and the same soap made with

plain soybean oil, was the only one who liked the Crisco one better. Said

it was harder and lasted longer. I cannot tell the difference, but I like

the smell of the non Crisco soaps better.

Would anyone know of a hydronated soybean oil without the anti foaming agent

(which I think is the smell difference)?
