Guest guest
Aliza- I don't know why I thought you were a recently dx cmler. Sorry, my chemo brain is not the best!! That is for sure. Makes sense that you might not see your doctor until may. Hope that you continue to feel good. I do okay. Things come and go. I just think I have been over stressed this week with 2 of my kids sick and then trying to take care of myself. I also have a rash thing that started over my left temple area of my face. It is red tiny bumps, quite a large area and it burns constantly. It itches really bad and then the more I scratch which makes it feel good, the more it burns. I should have probably already have had it checked out but the week just got away from me. I don't know if its from the medication or from something else. My 2 children have had influenza B. Anyway- everyone is starting to feel better and I can see the light at the end of the tunnel. I think we are good with people feeling yucky in the house for awhile! Vicki- Scary about medical insurance. I am lucky to have mine under my hubby. My Gleevec only cost $20/month but there was a time when I was originally diagnosed that we had to meet a $2200 out of pocket deductible before they paid a dime of it. That was a lot of money to come up with for the month but we had too. Financially is set us behind every year for January and Febru ary. Hopefully, your will get straightened out. You can always see if anyone on here has any extra Gleevec that they don't need. Maybe it could by you a month or two? Take care and best wishes. Guest guest
Hi Group, when Dr. Talpaz told me he may put me on Tasigna, I called AARP to see what it would cost. I was told the first month would be about $3,400.00, and then after that it would only be $300.00....... along with the other $450.00 a month for other drugs, well, that's a real good reason for me to want to stay on Sprycel, even with the PE. It's free, as I am still in the phase 1 trial. When I was on Gleevec, I qualified with Novartis Patient Assistant program and received it free. I am hoping I still do, if I have to be on Tasigna. Interesting fact here, I took my dog to the vet today, her preventative heart worm medication is made by Novartis!! ( $7.50/2 pills.) Novartis guidelines at that time were you had to earn under $44,000.00 a year, hopefully that has not changed. But I am also on Medicare and 78, so what younger people do is beyond me. Good luck, Bobby vegasrnjen@... wrote: Aliza- I don't know why I thought you were a recently dx cmler. Sorry, my chemo brain is not the best!! That is for sure.
