Guest guest
As for early visits with Oncologist after switching to a new drug it is recommended, but not an absolute rule, that you be seen weekly for the first 2 months. What is typically being looked for are any chemical and cell count changes after the switch. It looks as if your visits are being spread out the longer you go on. Maybe the Oncologist has not seen any trends of anything getting to low that requires some action.
Guest guest
Hello Marri, Please see my notes of the last few weeks to various people in the group about my recent findings after 3 years on Imatinib (Gleevec) and about 2 years on Sprycel. I too had the peripheral neuropathy (numbness and tingling) but it hit all 10 fingertips and then pleural effusion. I couldn't type or write and my doc on the dasatinib (Sprycel) trial took me off the drug for several weeks. I'm symptom-free but know that none of the drugs we have apparently cure CML but that's what the trials are fore -- to determine what kind of changes they make in our treatment and how they affect quality of Life. Enjoy! There is a lot of information on the net and another good place to look (if you don't know yet) is www.newcmldrug.com). All the best, L. [ ] Sprycel follow up for the first 2 months Hi everyone, Once again I turn to the " specialists " It's day 34 on Sprycel. I have seen doc three times (5 days, 12 days and 24 days). I thought I should be in every week for the first 2 months..... I'm the sprycel patient there. In process of consult another onco. My current onco says come back in month....enjoying all the usual fare of s/e... mostly worried about the numbness and tingling in my feet. They just don't want to address...thoughts? What have you all been given or had done if anything for this and how often should I have blood draws and when will I know more about remission....isn't there like a time limit on that? I just had dose changed from 140 to 70mg a day now back up to 100mg today (waited for 50mg tabs from pharm co.) I would appreciate your feedback as always..........AND OF COURSE.....HAPPY VALENTINES.... They should make Sprycel chocolate covered.....yum..Marri
