Guest guest
I'm on Sprycel 2 weeks now and every-things going well, except I keep experiencing a lot of fatigue on and off. I also am getting tightness and heaviness around my chest, back, neck and shoulders. I also experience trouble taking a breath I can only take short ones. It almost feels like an anxiety attack. It can last for about an hour or more. If anyone has every had anything like this I would appreciate some input. Thanks Peace, Light & Love --------------------------------- Never miss a thing. Guest guest
Hi , Yes do as Bobby says. I too after 3 years started getting side affects. I did n ot have shortness of breath but I was very tired and could not walk upstairs without getting tired. I went in to see the Dr. and I had Plural effusion. They withdrew l qt of fluid from my lungs. And now I am on Tasigna. Go see your doctor. Do not be afraid. It may be a side effect of Sprycel, mine did not catch up with me for 2 1/2 years, but then it was very bad. Tightness in chest, shortness of breath, pain in the right side of the chest, as that is where the fluid built up, in the right lung. Have it checked out, bobby Fiol <rachel_art_design@ <mailto:rachel_art_design%40> > wrote: I'm on Sprycel 2 weeks now and every-things going well, except I keep experiencing a lot of fatigue on and off. Guest guest
Hey rachel! I had that same feeling during the first month or so of sprycel. I would ask the docs about the breathing since sprycel has plurel efflusions. The fatigue was way worse in the first 6 weeks then it gets slightly better. Now it kind of cycles through with more seasons of fatigue versus constant fatigue. Hang in there! Guest guest
, What is your dosage of Sprycel??? I was warned to watch for signs of fluid retention. Guest guest
Rach- I thought we weren't supposed to take Tylenol while on Gleevec or Sprycel. I thought we should take Ibuprofen? I could be wrong though. FYI- I always have the same EXACT pain you describe. Mine comes in cycles it seems. I have noticed that the lower my hemoglobin level goes the worse my shortness of breath and chest discomforts gets. You might even notice that the Ibuprofen works better (for inflammation) if it really what they are saying. It is not in your head. I suffer with it too. I push through it, take Ibuprofen and rest. I have taken Procrit for low hemoglobin. Also, I notice it when my hemoglobin only gets down to 10-11, which in all reality, really isn't all that bad, BUT for whatever reason, it happens, I feel it. Best of luck and hang in there, this too shall pass! Guest guest
Hi all, I have been out of my house all day about 6 hrs. I saw my primary and she sent me to the ER There they did chest ct, ultrasound of my heart, chest xray, blood work and they tell me I have (Musculoskeletal chest Pain) that's why I can't breath... I was also told I have 2 small Pleural Effusions in each lung... I was told to go home and rest and take Tylenol. My husband said it's short for it's all in my head. I am frustrated and scared, but I am going to rest and take Tylenol Peace, Light & Love --------------------------------- Looking for last minute shopping deals? Find them fast with Search. Guest guest
The fatigue is super frightening in the beginning (initial 6 months) because it is so so limiting (falling asleep at the wheel sorta stuff). I was dx with cml in nov of 07. I wasn't until recently i felt semi-normal. People will say " you look great " . And someone at work has evidently asked the question if i really have leukemia. However, they don't see that i am too tired to make dinner sometimes and that often in the first year i just go to sleep when i get home from work. I even fell asleep at my desk several times. My work has been great but the deadlines remain the same. The hours are long because they need to be, and i am considering changing jobs because of it. It is hard to manage fatigue, BUT it does get better!!! It is good to eat good healthy foods, get good restful sleep (try to relax befor going to bed). And, yoga, meditation, no caffeine, no smoking etc etc all ths stuff you know... Becomes even more inportant to mmanage the cml. If you don rest and exercise, etc... You can get more colds...more drugs....more sick....etc. More tired.... Keep focused that this is a marathon of a life long illness, try to see that your energy and health is a resource for you and your family. Leave some in the bank...don't spend every penny every day! Your kids want someone to have energy for playtime. You need exercise, find a way to work a little in and then know it does get better with time and effort!
