Guest guest
Dear Friends, On Thursday evening I was hospitalized with intense vomiting, diarrhea, and low grade fever. I had taken my eighth dose of Sprycel earlier that day after switching from Gleevec due to G250E mutation. WBC had dropped to 2800 bySaturday and I'm scheduled to meet with my doctor at MSKCC on Wednesday. The hospital docs were unable to give me a conclusive diagnosis as to whether the problem was a result of viral gastroenteritis or side effects from the Sprycel. I really do not want to switch from Sprycel to Tasigna since some of you have already advised me that Sprycel is more effective against G250E than Tasigna. Have any of you experienced gastro problems with Sprycel and, if so, how did you deal with the issue? What questions should I be asking my doc at this point.? Many thanks for you suggestions and recommendations. Best wishes, Carl --------------------------------- Looking for last minute shopping deals? Find them fast with Search. Guest guest
I think sometimes we have a tendency to think everything that happens to us is a result of our medication. Maybe you picked up a flu bug-there are so many going around. I had severe diarrhea for a month-losing 15 pounds - my Dr. had me go off Sprycel for a full week and then back on it. It worked. But of course a few years later I did come down with Plural Effusion and other bad side affects. But I would not give up on Sprycel, if I were you. I was doing so well on it..But now I go on to Tasigna. I just want you to remember that we do still get all the bugs that go around. It is so difficult to tell what the reasons are-the meds we take or just something we would have gotten had we not been on our medication Sharon _____ From: [mailto: ] On Behalf Of Carl Davies Sent: Sunday, March 09, 2008 9:20 AM ; asiancmlsupportgroup ; cmlhopegooglegroups Subject: [ ] Sprycel and Gastro Problems Dear Friends, On Thursday evening I was hospitalized with intense vomiting, diarrhea, and low grade fever.
