Guest guest
Dear Aliza, Here is a definition of PCR, it's a test. The polymerase chain reaction is a technique for quickly " cloning " a particular piece of DNA in the test tube. http://users.rcn.com/jkimball.ma.ultranet/BiologyPages/P/PCR.html Here is a short movie to illustrate a PCR: http://faculty.plattsburgh.edu/donald.slish/PCRmov.html Said another way: Polymerase chain reaction (PCR), is a common method of creating copies of specific fragments of DNA. PCR rapidly amplifies a single DNA molecule into many billions of molecules. I hope his helps Aliza, Cheers, Lottie

Guest guest
Folks, Counting chickens or what ever we count is a personal decision. I choose to claim all victories before the battles/war. Its hard living with something like this and with so many reminders, (every time I forget I have this, I see a billboard, commercial or here about Leukemia on the radio). So I say, live each moment as if it were your last and you'll feel that these moments are not fleeting. Count chicken, count sheep, just don't count yourself OUT! Allow yourself to believe, dare to dream (I dream in color)! CONGRATS!!! Remember to smile at people, someone may see you and return the favor! Guest guest
Bobby, Is this an awesome trend??? Tell me more about this Ariad? Is it better then Gleevec, Sprycel, and Tasigna? How often do you take this, and how many grams? Is it true you have no side-effects? Maybe I will drive from Illinois to Michigan for this? Guest guest
Hi Dory, I am in the Ariad trial at the U of Mich. and take 15 mg. a day. I have no side effects at all, but that is just me. Although I had the usual side effects on Gleevec, I had none on sprycel. I have not been on Tasigna. The dose has been raised to 30,mg I believe, but Dr. Talpaz said I can stay on 15 mg as it is working so well for me. But others do have side effects, such as rising wbc, or dropping platelets. It's like every drug, some people have side effects and others do not, or have different ones. So far I have been very fortunate . I am anemic, but have been for a few years now, it is not the Ariad doing it. Good luck, Bobby a (Bobby) Doyle Brecksville, Ohio, USA DX 05/1995 02/2000 - Gleevec Trial/OHSU 06/2002 - Gleevec/Trisenox Trial/OHSU 06/2003 - Gleevec/Zarnestra Trial/OHSU 04/2004 - Sprycel Trial/MDACC, CCR in 10 months #840 - Zavie's Zero Club 09/2006 - out of CCR 04/29/08 - XL228 Trial/ U.of Michigan 06/02/08 - CCR ( in 4 weeks) 02/13/09 - XL trial ended due to side effects 04/13/09 - New Trial, Ariad / U. of Mich./ Dr. Talpaz From: Dory Doggie <hellodoggie0009@...> Subject: Re: [ ] Re: pcr Date: Friday, September 18, 2009, 6:52 AM Bobby, Is this an awesome trend???
