Guest guest
Dennis I'm finding that I'm much more sleepy than usual. The other day it was all I could do to keep my eyes open. I'm going back to dr next week and will have to tell him, I just can't do the lyrica. I expected some side effects when I first started it, but hoped the dizzyness would go away and it hasn't. I'm leaving next Wed for a show in MD and I can't be driving, pulling a trailer, and not have all my wits (or what is left of them) about me. I guess it is back to the drawing board for the nerve pain. <sigh> Hugs
Guest guest
I've had the terible sleepy time, too, at about 2 PM when I just take 2 pills a day, one at breakfast and one at dinner. I'm going to let my body have a break and not take any more Lyrica for a while, at least. I've made so many changes in meds lately that I don't know which end is up. I guess I need to prune them back to what I need, not what the docs think I need. Guest guest
: I have been taking 300 mg twice a day since mid December. I haven't seen a reduction in effectiveness, but you must remember that symptoms change. Unfortunately, your neuropathic pain may have increased. Ugh! --Larry

Guest guest
, It made me kinda drowsy the 1st day and that was it. Guest guest
, So you have only been on it about a week so far? Please keep me posted on your progress. I try so hard to keep my weight down ( 110-115) as I am a small person (5'4 " ) and I can feel the difference with my joints in just 10 pounds. I don't know if other people have that problem, but maybe it's a coincendence or it really makes a difference. We are all so different so it;s hard to say. I have heard some people gain weight within the first week of Lyrica, then others that have seen no change. I can gain really fast if I don't keep myself in check so I am so afraid that it would have the weight gain afffect on me. Also, is it expensive? Guest guest
, I have only been on it for a few days; but I am really worried about the weight gain and hands/feet swelling. I gained alot of weight when I was on predisone and zyprexa (I'm bi-polar too) and I haven't been able to loose the weight that I gained on them and it has been years. I have an indigent care plain at the local hospital here, so they did some paperwork and the manufacter paid for the meds, so I got them for free. I know it's expensive since it's a brand name medication. What got me about lyrica is that you need to be careful about becoming addicted to it. I haven't noticed that it has made me " loopy " or anything like that. I will see if anything changes when I am up to 150mg bid instead of 75mg bid. Maybe I am not on a high enough dose for me to notice any changes. When did you start feeling better on Lyrica? Thanks . Hi everyone, I hope you are > doing well. Guest guest
Oh, I have only been told I needed to start it by a doc that I do not plan to continue seeing but I now know that I do have Fibro in addition to RA and God knows what else. So, I have NOT started it and I don't know that I will. I am really interested in hearing how you do, so please keep me posted. Whenever I am on prednisone, I ALWAYS gain a good 15 lbs and it takes forever to get it off and I eat so healthy - not able to exercise like I need to, but still. I have actually gone hungry for days just to lose a few pounds to no avail. It usually takes me about 3 months to get rid of just the prednisone weight. It really sucks. I had no idea that Lyrica could be addictive! That is so strange. You would think that there would be other drugs approved by the FDA to help this disorder. It has been a long time coming just for THAT one! You take care and keep me posted!! Guest guest
, I will definately keep you updated on how it works for me. I read some previous posts and it can take about 2 months before I feel any real difference. I was on predisone for about 6 months and I gained about 50 lbs (7 yrs ago) and I gained about 30lbs on zyprexa (last year). Even though I work out pretty regularly, and I try to watch what I eat...but nothing as worked. I get alot of flack from my doctors about loosing the weight, but I can't do high impact cardio because of the RA. They want me to do pool excerises, but I can't afford a gym membership or even get in at a local rec center. It's like a double edged sword sometimes. Hi everyone, I hope you are > > doing well. Guest guest
I really feel for you! I mean, come on, a doctor should know if a RX causes weight gain AND they would notice the gain on your visits. Like it's all YOUR fault!! Makes you just want to smack 'em! Yeah, I just had a doctor that told me that I needed to exercise, never mind the face she didn't listen when I told her that I did exercises that did not hurt me. And of course, she wanted me to go to a sleep clinic because she thought I had a sleeping disorder!! Again, had she listened, I have dislocated both shoulders a total of 6 times, fractured one and have pins in the other AND not to mention the RA pain. That's the reason I can't sleep. Jerk. That's why I am going to see someone else anyway. Sorry for ranting, incompetent and incompassionate doctors really get me going!!!!! You have a great night!! Guest guest
I've been on Lyrica since October and it has helped alot with the pain. No side effects. The fibromyalgia has been worsening for about 8 months now, the fatigue is the worst. My doctor also put me on Darvocet to help with pain control. It helps too. I'm on alot of meds, so my doctor and the pharmacist has been helping to keep them straight. Gwen > > I've been on lyrica for about 9 months now. I have had about 10 pounds in weight gain. Guest guest
Well I just started lyrica, so I am hoping that it will work for me. I agree, the fatigue is the worst. I am on about 10 different medications, and I have been able to keep them straight; for now. I take vicodin for the pain and it helps...but I just saw a pulmonalogist on Monday so I can get on provigil. I have to do a sleep study before, just to make sure that I don't have sleep apnea. If I take provigil and I have sleep apnea, it can make it worse. I hope that I can get on provigil to help combat the fatigue, because taking a shower just takes all the energy that I have. I will keep everyone updated. Thanks for your support. > > > > I've been on lyrica for about 9 months now. I have had about 10 > pounds in weight gain. No other side effects though. Guest guest
: Wow, do I understand what you are going through. I don't have RA but just the OA and the fibromyalgia with chronic fatigue. I am on Provigil too, and it is helping a little. I still need a nap a day or I'm gone by noon. I do have wheezing on occasion, so they gave me an inhaler. It's usually in the spring and summer that I have the wheezing, but if I go out in the cold my lungs hurt real bad, so I end up putting something over my face to keep the air warmer. I hope the Lyrica works for you . My doctor also just put me on Darvocet for the pain. I take it only when I need it. > > > > > > I've been on lyrica for about 9 months now. Guest guest
I have some Lyrica that I can't take. If anyone could use some, I will send it to the first person who answers my letter. I have a drug idiocyncracasy and am very sensitive to most drugs. I took only one from each bottle. I think one is 50 mg. and the other is 75 mg. Waiting to hear from someone, Lottie

Guest guest
I have been on lyrica for the past few months. I am currently on 450mg daily. When my dosage was increased, I felt really loopy for the 1st week...but I got used to it. I think my dosage needs to be increased because I haven't felt any relief since the increase. It helped w/ the pain when I first tried lyrica. Granted the pain isn't as bad as it used to be. Try it, the loopiest will go away...just as long as you find relief. Best of luck to you. --- In , " eandsspivey " <emilyspivey@...> wrote: > > Has anyone tried to take Lyrica? I am trying it for the second time > and it makes me so drunk! Guest guest
Hi! I've been on Lyrica. It caused weight gain and swelling for me. However, for alot of people, there is no weight gain so don't let that discourage you! Guest guest
I tried it, for only two weeks. It caused edema; my ankles looked like softballs, and my lower legs puffed up, and were very hard/filled with fluid. gentle hugs! Marcia > > Has anyone tried to take Lyrica? Guest guest
I took the maximum dose of lyrica and in 9 days, I gained 10 pounds and I don't gain weight. I was taken off it immediately as it would add more damage to my knees with the RA and joint effusions. Three other patients were taken off that same day due to that. When I was on it though, it did not stop my constant FMS pain. It decreased my neuropathic pain and some pain but was definitely not any better for me than the cymbalta was. Guest guest
Hi , My brother has CMT too and he took Lyrica for a neurological face pain. It was his best drug against it but made him dizzy and tired. Now he have had a surgery and the pain ceased. I think Lyrica can be good against the pain but the side effects are bad. Guest guest
I wish I was brave enough to find out. I have a full prescription of it, but have been to chicken to try it. My next door neighbor started taking Lyrica for Fibromyalgia, and ended up having a seizure at work shortly after she started on it. At least her Dr. told her it was due to the Lyrica. Guest guest
I don't remember if it was the Lyrica, Pamelor or Cymbalta, but one of them gave me hot flashes, a condition which I had only heard about and never imagined I'd experience. It brought me to a new level of awareness and sympathy! cmtGUY!
