Does testing prevent?

Had an interesting argument with a friend the other day.

She swears up and down that the myriad of tests that the allopaths throw

at one prevents disease. (This lady works in a medical office and has

been brainwashed thoroughly in the ways of the allopaths.)

I maintain that testing prevents nothing. It can find and diagnose, but

there is no way that testing, by itself, can prevent anything.

Nothing I could say would change her mind She still insists that testing

prevents whatever is being tested for.
