Guest guest
Thanks for this update, Carol! I'm in San Francisco for the weekend (will fly back to Florida overnight Monday night) visiting my daughter/sil/adorable grandson. So have pretty much left Debra to her own devices for the moment. The woman who was taking care of the money decided it was too much for her, so it's all on Debra at the moment. I wish I lived closer! I'd be happy to take that off her hands, but can't from 1,100 miles away... Good to hear that Gloria is getting all these things she needs. I didn't understand your quote below about the radiation, though...is she getting it or not? Is she able to drink the essiac tea while taking radiation? (Did she ever find the burdock??) I've been emailing with Debra regularly, but have been juggling too many plates in the air to spend much time on the phone...so appreciate all of you who are keeping phone contact with Gloria. Thank you so much! YES, Debra is an ANGEL! Gloria is just one person she advocates for and has several cases going. She is still doing this as FREE service till she gets funding. Amazing to have angels like this around. And yes, people like her advocate Deb are without a doubt worth twice their weight in (thing of ultimate value here). I will put good thoughts in the ether for both these ladies. Guest guest
Evie, Gloria is a long-time HAWK member who fractured her spine last February and has been in excruciating and escalating pain ever since. Unable to work and the bills were mounting, with a house that needed lots of repairs she had no money for. The doctor who was treating her told her she would never get any better and to just learn to live with it. After many months of this, and wishing she was at death's door, she finally went to the ER which ordered a CAT scan and found a cancerous tumor on her spine. She was *minutes* away from being paralyzed by this interplay of the cancer and broken bones, and was admitted to the hospital for emergency surgery for removal of the tumor. At that point, I emailed a friend who *just happened* to live in the town where Gloria lives and that friend's mother *just happened* to have a neighbor who is a family advocate. (Asterisks are because I don't believe in coincidence.<G>) I put Debra, the advocate, in touch with Gloria and she's been a miracle worker. Gloria is out of the hospital and out of rehab, and staying with a friend while Debra is orchestrating the repairs on her home. She is truly an angel...and other than these listmembers the only resource Gloria has had. And Gloria is still dealing with the cancer (also in her breast) and healing from the surgery. Thank goodness in much less pain than she had lived with for so long. Just a little background... Guest guest
I'm glad Gloria is getting so much help. I tried to call her about the missing burdock but can only get the answering machine. Hopefully when she is home and some of these things are straightened out it will show up for her. I'll be send her that package of soft musical CD's this coming week.
