Guest guest
SUNIL DUTT's UNTIMELY DEATH - AN IRREPARABLE LOSS TO HUMANISM: While the Nation Lost its Ace Personality, Sex Workers Lost their Brother and Messiah PHO President, Parliamentarian, Actor, Director, Social Reformer Sunil Dutt's untimely death on 25th November 2005, has left the nation shocked and the social work field orphaned. PHO; which has been championing the cause of prevention, control and management of HIV/AIDS and medico social welfare of sex workers for over two decades, mourned the death of Shri Dutt and passed a condolence message to be passed on not only to his family but the entire nation as he belonged to the nation. " The Peoples Health Organisation (India) deeply mourns the sad and untimely demise of its president Shri Sunil Dutt and appeals the nation to follow his foot steps in medico-social work for the neglected and unattended class of society to pay him tributes in real sense. While PHO will have to struggle hard to replace Duttsab, there is no other comparable personality in the living beings in India, who could replace Mr. Dutt in totality - be it in the field of social work, cause of HIV/AIDS and other burning health issues, cause of poor and oppressed, natural and manmade catastrophe. He was always available as a friend-philosopher-guide, a father figure and as a 'rock of pillar' to all of us in the hour of needs in any part of the country and in any field of work. May god give his family members and all of us enough strength to console ourselves and forge-ahead towards the cause of betterment of humanity " . Sahelies, (Hindi word for Friend)- the peer leaders of sex workers in PHO's Saheli project, inconsolably grieved the death of their brother and messiah ever since they heard the news of Mr. Dutt's death. Answering the question of one of the journalists - what the sex workers liked the most in Mr. Sunil Dutt's gesture, one of the sahelies Sharda quipped instantly - " Duttsab Aisi Jagah Hamaare Liye Aate the, Yehi Sabse Badi Baat Hai " (Mr. Dutt's visit to such places for us was the most important thing). Mr. Dutt was their adored brother for last 15 years and never missed any Raksha-Bandhan (festival of brothers and sisters), ever since he visited first time in 1990. Sex workers were at loss to explain, who will come to them representing Duttsab for this Raksha Bandhan on August 19, 2005? May be Sanjubaba (Sunjay Dutt) or Priya Dutt or both!
