Re: Dis-ease, Diet, and Direction

Hi Ev,

(I refer to Atkins diet here because it's what I know, and as most

people are at least a bit familiar with the type of eating he

recommended, not because I think it's THE only low carb regimen to follow.)

I think a lot of it depends on the individual. There is no " one size

fits all " in diet as in many other things.

I feel my absolute best when I eat low carb, such as Atkins recommends.

When I first tried it back in the '70s I had no preconceived notions as

to what would happen, except to lose weight. What I discovered was that,

in addition to weight loss, my feelings of happiness and well-being

increased dramatically, as they do every time I spend at least two weeks

eating that way.

Until you asked your question I had pooh-poohed Dr Mercola's idea

different diets for different metabolic types. Now this idea makes a lot

more sense. Go figure.

For more information on metabolic typing go to www.mercola.com and

search for " metabolic tpying. "

I'm a 20yr follower of Abraham (www.abraham-hicks.com, was in the original

movie of " The Secret " ) and this is what Abraham says:

....everything is in response to the way you feel -- everything is.

Everything is mind over matter. Every disease is mental first. Everything is

about thought. Everything is about vibration. Everything is about the way

you feel. Practice scenarios that feel good--and never mind reality. Reality

is only a brief moment in time that you keep repeating.

So I firmly believe that the basis of dis-ease is repressed negative

emotion. How it chooses to manifest through the crack of least resistance

probably has to do with our beliefs about what we eat and what what we put

on our bodies and clean our homes with, etc.

Okay, without getting into a ginormous spit-spat over the individual

ingredients of one's diet (!!), I would like to hear what any of you

think of the correlation of health and spirit. Frame of mind.

Direction of one's journey. Howsomever you care to phrase it!

~~~~~Oh, I couldn't agree more. Same thing with exercise. I have
less than zero interest in golf, or tennis, or rock climbing. But I
love walking my dogs, riding my horse, bicycling ....
Something for everyone!
~~~~Thanks, Judith! I likely will go have a look-see.

So you think the fuel is what gives you the outlook?

I can agree that there would be some influence in that direction.

But I think the flow the other way may carry more weight.

~~~~~This goes FAR to explain why I did as well as I did on 20 years
of Dr. Pepper and candy. !! (Nope - not recommending it,
commending it, or hinting I'd go back there!)
I think the bottom fell out because I've been raised to " understand "
that these are bad for you, are not proper nutrition, willrot your
teeth, brain, kill you, etc.
But while I was doing it, I had a good time! Weighed considerably
less, had plenty-plenty energy, got more stuff done.
~~~~Well, give him my regards!!!

I am working to overcome prior propaganda about what I should do and

how I should do it. I don't like the walls in my brain and I'm

moving toward ignoring/removing them.

Eventually, I will regain my balance with eating what I like that

fuels the physical body correctly, so that *I* can continue to move

forward while I'm here, being physical. Feeling good and enjoying

myself while I'm at it!!

Frame of mind. Direction of one's journey. Howsomever you care to phrase it! . I've used the analogy of Path many times over the years. And that is basically how I view our individual choices. As our

individual Paths. Sometimes our Path is alone, where we journey by ourselves. At times our Path crosses anothers and we travel together. Sometimes they are in front leading the way, at others I am the leader. Better still when we travel side by side, being supported when I stumble, supporting them when they need it. Then our Paths go separate ways. But always with the hope of joining again. My personal take on optimum health is not derived so much from what we eat or don't eat, take or don't take, drink or don't drink. We are all on our own Path. My take is in Joy! Realize the Joy in all things. Take a moment to laugh. Leave every situation and encounter a little bit better than before. A good belly laugh is the best there is. Endorphins are released, toxins are flushed, the heart gets a brief intense workout. If you want to be healthy, be

joyous! Peace, love, laughter What I saw was equal ecstasy: One universal smile it seemed of all things. __________________________________________________

~~~~~Never my worst - only my best. Of course, I can't guarantee
that's any good, either, but it's all about intention, isn't it?!!
Hey, I've probably been those things, too. Just not in this life.
I'll have to go check that out. But right now, I'm spozed to be
