Guest guest
In the past three days I have had three very long telephone conversations with Gloria’s advocate. The latest news is that Gloria won’t be returning to her home. It’s uninhabitable…so infested with mold (probably from the long-time water leak in the bathroom and the leaky roof) that two people who have cleaned it for her are very ill themselves. She has been moved to a nursing home for the foreseeable future. I’ll post her contact info below. She could use our good wishes and positive thoughts. Although the cancer is treatable, she is not doing well mentally. All cards, letters and packages can go to her at the nursing home and uplifting phone calls are welcomed. Any cash or store gift cards should be sent to me; you can email me privately for my address. Gloria’s contact info is: Spruce Manor Nursing & Rehab Center 220 South Fourth Avenue West Reading, Pa 19611 Phone: 610-374-5175 Fax: 610-374-0426 Sharyn
Guest guest
Sharyn, Thanks for updates always. I had spoken to Gloria today before seeing your post. She complained of pain, but did sound good however. She has to get her own phone in order to take calls as there is just one phone for the residents. " Angel " Deb was with her. I can't wait till Deb comes to my house for Rest and Relaxation. No kidding---we talked about it and I do believe she'll come. Her bedroom is ready for her. hugs, carolg > > In the past three days I have had three very long telephone conversations > with Gloria's advocate. Guest guest
Is there anything the advocate can do to find Gloria another home? Is that alternative being looked at, or does her health dictate nursing home care? Guest guest
Once Gloria is well enough to live on her own, they’ll be looking for a small apartment for her, around people and with no difficult upkeep or maintenance. And don’t call at the nursing home right now…Gloria doesn’t have a private number there. The advocate is giving her a cell phone this weekend, so we’ll have a number soon.
