We had our psych eval w/ our wrap around agency on Thurs. The psychologist also

works for a school district so he was very helpful with suggestions on how I can

" get around " the age thing. I can't seem to find any " law " (Fed or state) that

is age specific. The Dr. said if we can give good arguments as to why the older

class would be less appropriate than where he is now, we could probably convince

them to agree. He also said parents have a lot more power than they tend to

think sometimes. He said to go in with a plan and do my homework. I assured him

I always do. 80)

I asked the LS teacher where I work and she said it WAS a law that you can't

have more than a 3 grade span in one classroom. She couldn't tell me where I

could find this law tho'. Last year the director said we would probably be

holding Nic back another year before he gets to Middle school, so if I have to,

I'll make this the year-making him still in 2nd grade. (that will be my backup

plan tho).

Anyone have any last minute thoughts on our dilemma?

We have an IEP on Tuesday. Nic had a horrible year last year. The teacher

> was awful. He was in PT learning support at our home school. We decided

> to

> move him this year because if he stayed there, he would have the same

> teacher. This year he is in a FT learning support in a different school

> within the district. Even though we didn't want to put him in a more

> restrictive environment, we are very pleased with this year's progress. It

> is mostly due to the teacher and aides-they are all awesome!!! The

> problem

> is, he is aging out and they are going to want to move him to the older

> class. Same school. I met this teacher last year and I left in tears.

> Without even meeting Nic she drew a conclusion that her's was not the

> for him and that " there's a real nice Life Skills class in Pottstown. "
