Guest guest
Dear All, Infectious Diseases especially Malaria, Tuberculosis and HIV/AIDS are major public health problems. In recent years, development of drug resistance has further hampered successful control of these diseases. It is therefore essential to get all the experts in the field together to devise strategies and policies for management of individual cases as well as for formulating national policies. With this in mind, Seth G.S. Medical College and K.E.M. Hospital in collaboration with the U. S. Department of Health and Human Services and other national and international organizations are conducting a three day event, " National Consultation on Drug Resistance in Malaria, TB, and HIV/AIDS " at the ITC Hotel Grand Central Sheraton, Parel, from 19th to 21st September 2005. The consultation will bring together biomedical researchers, clinical epidemiologists, operational researchers, program managers, and policy makers for joint discussions on different aspects of drug resistance so that current information can be used in developing policy guidelines for combating drug resistant forms of pathogens. Speakers at this consultation will be leading experts from India and the United States, who have made significant contributions in basic, clinical, operational, programmatic, and policy aspects of drug resistance. The deliberations during the consultation would result in a document on recommendations which will provide guidance for individual patient care & decide roadmap for further collaborative projects involving new partners. Registration fees: Rs. 1500 for students, Rs. 2,500/- for Indian Citizens, US $ 100 for SAARC delegates and US $ 150/- for other delegates. All details for the conference including registration form and abstract submission form are available at www.kem.edu/natconsultation.htm Regards, Dr. Preeti Mehta Organising Secretary, I/C, Model VCTC and Professor & Head, Microbiology Department, Seth GS Medical College and KEM hospital, Parel, Mumbai-400012.
