Guest guest
Colleen, I had to add my thoughts to your question. My husband and I,now, both have Hep C.I found out 7 or 8 yrs. ago. My husband started getting sick this past yr.Went to the dr. to find out what was wrong.Found out that he has it, too.Too make a long story short,The liver specialist says its extremely rare to get it sexually, but in our case it could be, for we have had sex during that time of the month.Even though he says he doubts it,very much.Yet, I was married many years ago to someone else and found out he had gotten tests back, and he had it too! So, as far as I'm concerned ,I will never really know the truth, but have always felt that most likely, both of my husbands got it from me.I wouldn't chance having unprotected sex during your period.Any other time I wouldn't worry about it.Better to be safe than sorry.Wish you peace. Guest guest
For awhile last year Faith was using farting as an expression of displeasure. How delightful L It didn’t take too long to forbid that behavior at home. A behavior plan at school dealing with several behaviors was put in place. What finally solved the behavior problems was putting her in resource for math and reading. She had been fully included and the work was just too much for her, even with modifications. The second half of the year was great. She understood fully what she was doing and was totally in control of it. She just had no other way to express her frustration with the classroom. I don’t know if this is in any way what you’re dealing with, but thought I throw it out. ette Mom to Faith (9)DS From: Down Syndrome Treatment [mailto:Down Syndrome Treatment ] On Behalf Of Kathy Sent: Wednesday, June 06, 2007 7:22 PM DS Info; DSTNI; Einstein; DS NUT Subject: Delicate Question We got an email from 's teacher today. She is 10 years old and in 3rd grade. Her teacher said that her passing gas was becoming a problem and the other little (typical) girls were complaining about it. We require that she say " excuse me " at home but other than that I'm not sure what to do. It's hard to imagine trying to teach her the concept of doing it silently or holding it or going to the bathroom every time. We haven't even taught her a name for it, just that she has to say excuse me. Any suggestions?? Anyone dealt with this? Guest guest
Kathy, I do not have a suggestion but I know that I will be dealing with this probably not too far in the future. My daughter, le, who is 6 loves to make tooting noises and sometimes she does it on purpose to get a reaction -- she has an 8 year old brother who loves farts and he laughs which gets her doing it more and more but (no pun intended) she also is a gassy child and I do not know how I would get her to control that since it is not done on purpose, sometimes when you gotta let loose -- you gotta let loose! I know it is not funny that you are getting emails about this but is it the smell or sound that is getting these other children complaining? If it is the smell then I would explain that it smells bad to other people and maybe have her smell something bad like old cheese or something so she can understand that it is yucky. If it is the noise that it the problem then I would explain that the sound of her passing gas is disruptive to the class and she should try to do it in the bathroom or somewhere that would not be disruptive. Guest guest
Bulk fiber probably. The colon can get lazy if it does not have some pressure against its walls to push on. Whole grains and legumes have lots of fiber. Or you could add some psyllium powder to your smoothies. Guest guest
How frustrating! How much water are you drinking? That has a lot to do with constipation. Check out how much fiber is actually in your ingredients. Recently there was a program on the PBS about . The lack of fiber in some foods surprised me. Head lettuce has virtually none! I Googled +fiber+food+chart and read about various fiber contents. I was surprised at some of them. Guest guest
Suzi, Gayla, Janet, et. all Thanks for the ideas! I do notice I cut way back on water the more blended drinks I have. I will definitely study the fiber content of the foods I blend. A typical day would be approx 40 ounces of blended drink split between breakfast and lunch. Handful of raw nuts at lunch or after work. Then dinner could be home made vegetable/beef stew and whole grain roll, coffee, and piece of dark chocolate. The food after work is always cooked but try to make it healthy and made at home so I can control the ingredients. (There is plenty of home made not so healthy too...!). Anyway, I really love drinking blended nutrition during the day. It's a very light and simple way for me to eat healthy. Before blended drinks, I would just eat raw fruit and nuts and drink water during day and cooked food at night, but never had this problem. I'll be more aware of fiber content and see how it goes. Thanks again! Peace on earth. Re: delicate question Give us a daily menu.... Suzicctux <cctux@...> wrote: Hi team!Happy happy holidays to all of you wonderful, smart, and caring people. Guest guest
Cheryl. You need water. Even in a juice fast, you cut it with water. Either add water to your blended drinks or drink water separate. Suzi CHERYL D JONES <cctux@...> wrote: Suzi, Gayla, Janet, et. all Thanks for the ideas! Guest guest
I agree with - a very GOOD question!I also have "issues" with constipation, but ever since I started supplementing with Magnesium, can control it quite well. But I'm learning that this is a band aide, and not a fix to the problem. First let me explain how to use the "band aide" and then offer a solution to the problem.Buy a bottle of magnesium at the health food store. Take on pill on day 1, two pills on day 2, 3 pills on day 3, etc. Spread these pills out with meals and on day 4 at bed time. If you start to double up (say you get to day 5 and you are still not having one daily, soft stool, begin the doubling up at the bed time does). When you find the daily dose that causes at least one, soft stool per day that would be a good level to stop at.I take one with breakfast, one with lunch, one with dinner an 2 at bed time EXCEPT when I am pre-mensrual (when I tend to get more constipated) and then I double up on the dinner and if necessary also the lunch dose). Once my period starts everything "releases" (the constipation really goes away) and I go back to my standard schedule. BTW, for a point of reference, my supplement has 400mg of magnesium asporotate per pill. It doesn't matter which form you take or how much is in a pill as long as you slowly build up and find the daily dose that you need… Also, magnesium before bed helps with relaxation and getting rid of leg cramps! But recently I've been learning that chronic constipation is a sign of in improperly functioning gut, and an imbalance of "gut flora". Research the GAPS diet for more information on how to re-establish good gut flora. I read in the FAQ on that diet that people with chronic fatigue (that would be me) have a REALLY hard time getting the gut flora back in line. That explained a lot for me because If I even take ONE pro-biotic (or even eat whey or too much fermented veggies like sauerkraut) I can end up flat on my back in bed for a day or two! I'm going VERY, VERY slowly with the introduction of the probiotic foods first, then will SLOWLY introduce the BioKult probiotics recommended by the GAPS author (doctor). I'm working my way into doing the GAPS diet. It is a huge commitment and right now I'm just adding probiotic foods and soon I will begin adding the BIoKult capsules, and depending on how that goes, I'll decide if I'm going to commit t the full GAPS diet (thank goodness it is not a forever diet) - it actually HEALS the gut, so you can eventually go back to foods that used to cause allergic reactions and digestive and mental issues!
