Why- why-why this hypocrisy?

Dear Forum,

I am an HIV positive, I use to go to out patient department of School of

Tropical Medicine (STM) Kolkotta for my medical check-up.

One day, I was so surprised while I met a person who came at the hospital for

check-up and for CD4 counting, but she did not know why her CD4 counting would

be done. I asked her, but she really did not know why and when a man/woman goes

for CD4 counting, she replied that, “I really do not know about CD4, I came here

by the advice of my sister (who is a Doctor) as I am suffering by fever and

other diseases " .

During a long conversation with her I came know that her sister named 'Debapriya

Banerjee' (not the original name) who is working in a reputed NGO as the

In-Charge of its STI & HIV/AIDS cell since over 10 years.

Not only that she speaks in every Workshop and Awareness Program of STI,

HIV/AIDS about the precautionary measurement, OI support, Home Based Care, what

should do and don’t for a Positive person and responsibilities of a Doctor to

his/her patient.

Dr. Banerjee requests (?) to everyone to stand beside the HIV positive person,

advices the PLWHA to come out from the screen behind and speak out leaving the

fearness-shyness and the other bindings, they have to raise their voice against

Stigma Discrimination not only that, if really they want to establish their

Human Rights they have to speak about themselves through Electronic/Print Media.

Hence that now the day has come in front of the PLWHA that they should open

their Positive status to fight for their Rights against Stigma Discrimination.

To establish their Human Rights in this society the have to united.

But in reality what we see?

We see that a responsible Doctor who claims herself as a social worker and a

very good friend of the PLWHA is a woman in disguise?.

Why we the PLWHA have this concept about that Doctor?

As an In-Charge of STI, HIV/AIDS cell of a NGO why she wants to hide the

positive status of her own sister, not only that why she did not disclose to her

sister the report that detected Positive? Why she convinced her sister that she

was brought at STM for general Blood test for her illness and gave the

instruction that innocent lady to hide about the reason to come at the hospital?

Why Dr. Banerjee is playing dual role?

We want to know very eagerly that such type of behavior from a Doctor is

justified?

Then can we the PLWHA think that many other disguise persons and so called the

oldest and reputed NGOs who are working (?) for the PLWHA like 'Dr. Debapriya

Banerjee' are our real friend and really they want to do any good thing for the

PLWHA?

If we say that this type of activities of such person and NGO is breaking our

(PLWHA) mental strength intentionally. Is our concept untrue? If not, why-

why-why this hypocrisy?

Who will answer our question?

We eagerly want to know the answer.
