Aga Khan Development Network (AKDN), an international group of private,

non-denominational development agencies and institutions, seeks to empower

communities and individuals, often in disadvantaged

circumstances, to improve living conditions and opportunities. The

mandates of the Network's agencies and institutions range from architecture and

culture to health, education and rural development.

Mahatma Gandhi Institute of Medical Sciences, Sewagram (MGIMS) works for its

core function of training health professionals to work in the rural communities

of India. In addition to its unique role in medical education, MGIMS, Sewagram

has also been involved in health> care research and the delivery of health

services to the rural populace of Vidarbha and adjoining Andhra Pradesh.

Community Led Initiatives for Child Survival(CLICS), a collaborative

USAID-sponsored programme aims to bring 'sustainable improvement in the health

status and well being of children and women'.

The strategy for the same would be to build the capacity of the target

communities to develop, manage and ultimately acieve " ownership " of village

based child survival and health services.

The employees of CLICS will not be the employees of MGIMS, Sewagram. MGIMS,

Sewagram, therefore, will not have ability to absorb these employees later on.

The project is of 5 years duration. However, it

could be terminated earlier.

Applications are invited from suitable candidates for the following

positions in the programme area situated in the rural areas of Wardha District

(Maharashtra State).

*Program Coordinator*

Candidates should have a post graduate degree in Public Health. The position

will have overall responsibilities to plan,implement, monitor and evaluate

performance of field offices and supervise staff.

Candidates would need to demonstrate at least three years of experience in

community based health programme; be fluent in English and Marathi; be highly

numerate; computer literate; possesses skills of human resources, financial and

administrative management and have excellent written and verbal communication

skills. The remuneration for the position is Rs. 3, 00,000 p.a. (Consolidated).

*Program Officer (BCC & Training)*

Candidates should have a post graduate degree in Sociology/ Social Work. The

position will have overall responsibilities to provide technical assistance on

all aspects of BCC within the program, including developing messages, materials,

delivery formats, and ensuring the quality of each. Candidates would need to

demonstrate at least three years of experience of social mobilization/ training

/health education in community based health

programme; have excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Candidates with training/experience in qualitative survey techniques and/or

participatory learning & action (PLA) would be given

preference. The remuneration for the position is Rs. 2,40,000 p.a.

(Consolidated).

*Program Officer (Documentation & Communication)*

Candidates should have a post graduate degree in Mass Communication, journalism

or social development. The position will have overall

responsibilities to train staff in documentation skills and plan

documentation for all the Program Activities.

Candidates would need to demonstrate at least three years of experience

involving documentation ad communication activities in a community based

program; have excellent written and verbal communication skills. Candidates with

training / experience in Internet application and/ or website development would

be given preference. The remuneration for the position is Rs. 2,40,000 p.a.

(Consolidated).
