The Lebanese steep the leaves and berries and drink it to calm upset stomachs, and liniments to warm sore muscles can contain bay. Finally, a paste of bay and honey was used for blemishes, according to a book written in 1526. Culpepper said it helped skin problems and bruises. In modern times, however, the bay used for aftershave and soap is the West Indian Bay, P imenta racemosa. That's not to say that you couldn't use laurus if you wish, as far as I can determine.
