Guest guest
Dear Forum, Greetings from BMSF, Bangladesh. I am fully agree with Shamantha concern. I am a journalist in Bangladesh. Last 15 years i am working on HIV/AIDS & Media. Presently i work as a Executive Director of the Bangladesh Manobadhikar Sangbadik Forum-BMSF. We are pleased to informed you BMSF is a media community based network in Bangladesh, since 1991 BMSF working on HIV/AIDS & Media. Last 15 years BMSF observed that not only lack of awareness & capacity of the media community. Lower & less interest of the Governtment & donors community are major constrains for running/strengthen the HIV/AIDS & Media program. As a media community based networ we lways try to running HIV/AIDS & Media program. But we never see this issues in the priority lists of Government policy or donor policy. All are bussy for targeted intervention. Reach or catchup the communty peoples as like as, Sex-workers, IDUs, MSM,Transport workers,Transgender. No plan & budget for advocacy & communication. We feels if we can address media community they would be very good stake holder to create mass awareness on HIV/AIDS. If, we do not sensitize media, how can we want to be a positive response from media? If, we do not work with media, how come the media will be act on HIV/AIDS prevention? We are facing problems to running HIV/AIDS & Media program. Because some time some donor gives us 6 month, 11 month, 9 month project fund. No funding is long term. Aftr end of the short time project, we can not running the follow-up program. Hopefully you all are realizeing the constrains of the role of the media.
