Guest guest
Health benefits of a salt water bath One type of detox bath that you can prepare for yourself cheaply and easily is a salt water bath using Epsom salts. Epsom salts are a common and inexpensive item that you can buy at your local drugstore. They are an excellent natural remedy for constipation when taken in a glass of water. When dissolved in a warm bath they provide relief for muscle aches, strains, and body fatigue and stress. They cleanse the lymphatic system as well. A salt water bath is a useful and easy home detox remedy. You can even prepare hot compresses or packs using Epsom salts and apply them locally to whatever part of your body that is stiff or sore. Refer to our page on HOME BODY WRAPS, below. These salts are derived from the mineral magnesium sulfate. Magnesium is well-known and highly recommended for healthy maintenance of muscle and joint tissue, as well as improved brain and nerve functioning. The salt water bath - a natural body detox A relaxing soak in a tub of hot water mixed with Epsom salts can be a welcome and healthful end to a stressful day and provide a gentle and natural body detox. Epsom salts soaks help to clear lymphatic congestion and so provide an excellent natural body detox! The hotter the water, the more powerful the lymphatic cleanse, but be careful not to overstimulate your body with hot water. Use common sense -- just be relaxed and comfortable, and don't overdo it. How does this work? When you sit in a salt water bath the salt has a drawing effect on the body. By osmosis, water from the body tissues passes through the cell membranes of the skin in an attempt to balance the salinity of the tub water with the salinity of the body. This helps bruised and damaged tissue to rid itself of dead cells and excess moisture. It also helps the body to cleanse itself of lactic acid which accumulates in body tissue due to overexertion, poor circulation or muscle strain. Preparing the bath Dissolve two cupfuls of Epsom salts per each gallon of tub water and soak in the bath for up to thirty minutes. Water should be lukewarm or hot, but not uncomfortably so.
