Guest guest
Well, there’s a sign at the bridge entrance to Cedar’s island at the park one door over which says: “Large Alligator Sighted” or something to that effect. (I haven’t been back over to look, but Vince told me.) There are probably 15-20 homes that border this lake…ours has vegetation at the end of the lawn edging the lake…many others the lawn just runs right down to the lake. If I lived in one of those, I might be more worried, but the alligator(s) is/are more likely to crawl out on those lawns or the island (which has open shoreline also) than our lawn. I’m not sure what the homeowners’ association is planning to do about the alligators. And I’m not sure what they mean by “large,” although I’m guessing 4-feet or more. Alligators are really not dangerous as long as humans haven’t fed them…once they see humans as a source of food, they don’t much care whether it comes *from* our hands or *is* our hands…or whatever else they can get ahold of. There are alligators in the canal behind the first house we bought down here, too. The one my mom lives in now. Cedar and I saw one when we were walking one day…it was about 5-feet long, sunning itself on the bank. Fast, too, as it tossed its head and disappeared into the water when it saw us walking towards it. As with the rest of the critters who live around here, I just wish them well and ask them to keep to their own habitats.<G> Sharyn From: health [mailto:health ] On Behalf Of Suzanne can't you get rid of the alligators?? like have them relocated?? before they grow to big? or get the dog or you?
