Guest guest
I am gardening like a fool. Got 72 tomatoes in the ground a dozen tomatillos, 80 cucumbers, onions, garlic, 400 foot of potato rows, radishes, carrots, beets, loads of tomatoes, melons and various other yummies in the greenhouse waiting to go out. Kale, squash and spinach in the garden...what else? Flowers - loads of rows of cutting flowers. I am missing something, but you get the idea. Gayla Always Enough Ranch Acampo, California aeranch@... Guest guest
I am very lucky - we work together on this. We planted 40 more tomatoes late afternoon yesterday until a nasty cold wind made us wimp out. Watering is on drip system. We can efficiently water 1500 feet or more with one turn of a faucet. Goats are pretty much trouble free right now. Most of them have kidded out, so we just have to keep a watchful eye, feed and water. My big chore is I have to replace my website. I am trying to find a program that will suit me. I want to build my own template without having to redo it every page. But that will have to wait until I can find a program I can afford. Guest guest
Shari, I would love to know more about your greenhouse. Did you build it yourself? Let's talk about it here. Thanks. carolg, who uses her sunroom where it gets cold at night... > > We have 4 " of snow on the ground!! Guest guest
Gayla, I need to borrow your greenhouse till I get my own. My sunroom does a great job when we have sun, but at night it's cold for the " babies. " They are just coming up, but not all. Gosh.... How are you heating your greenhouse? Share away..... Let's get some pictures going please from you and Shari. Planning farmer's market selling, restaurant too? Hugs, carolg > I am gardening like a fool. Guest guest
I don't heat my greenhouse, but there is a nifty way to do so for very little money. You know those ropes of Christmas lights that are a plastic tube with lights inside? If you can find some of those at a thrift store or yard sale - make sure they are for outdoor use - and put them under the flats of plants in the greenhouse, they will give sufficient warmth for even peppers. The black plastic trays that 6 packs come in at nurseries need three passes of the lights under for perfect warmth. Also if you get some 1 mil plastic dropcloth and drape it over the starts at night (from late afternoon til it warms up in the morning) it will hold several degrees of warmth. If you bring shelving, you can surely borrow my greenhouse. Plants are growing exponentially - melons etc going from 6 packs to 4 inch pots. We are seriously out of room! As soon as I thoroughly wake up and do morning chores, milking the goat, feeding the babies and chickens, checking on preggos, it is out to plant maters, chicory, sunflowers and whatever else I have time for. Will try to get pics. I need to totally redo my website, so new pics are in order. Gayla Always Enough Ranch Acampo, California aeranch@...
