Watermelon is I believe a medium glycemic idex food... (although some say it is a high one) I would watch what you eat and how much.. http://www.bddiabetes.com/resource.aspx?IDX=3784 http://www.americanhealthways.com/regence/PDFs/Diabetes/DiabetesMealPlan_2002.pdf diana <gdiana07@...> wrote: i have diabetes II and want to know for sure that it's a no-no for meto eat watermelon, cause iove it sooo much...please don't tell me what u have heard... just tell me what u know tobe true...and please say it's ok!!!diana

It depends on how well your diabetes is

controlled and how your body reacts to fruit sugars. If you love it, take some

soluble fiber before consuming it to slow down the absorption of sugar or eat a

small amount after a meal with lean protein and some good fat. You will need to

test your BS level about an hour after eating it to see if it is spiking

too high. Fruit is good for diabetics, just approach it wisely like everything

else in your diet.
