Guest guest Posted August 31, 2005 Report Share Posted August 31, 2005 Big corporates to gather in Delhi to help fight AIDS: New Delhi: CoRE BCSD India, a 52 company-strong platform for Indian corporates to work for sustainable development, has initiated action to strengthen Indian industry's response to the AIDS epidemic. It will bring together the biggest corporate houses of the country, like HLL, Apollo Tyres, DCM Shriram, Larsen and Toubro, Shree Cement Limited and Ashok Leyland here on September five and six at a seminar 'Business against AIDS: Towards a paradigm shift'. The primary objective of the Seminar is to explore how businesses can make a better contribution to the fight against HIV/AIDS and how technology can be utilised in the fight. The seminar is being held in association with National AIDS Control Organisation (NACO), International Finance Corporation (IFC) and the Planning Commission of India. It will also provide a platform for organisations such as the Planning Commission, IFC Against AIDS, ILO, GTZ, Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, to share their experiences. CoRE- BCSD, India- TERI has also conducted a preliminary study with five Indian corporates actively involved to fight HIV/AIDS. The study has identified possible opportunities and openings for these companies to implement HIV/AIDS programmes in their supply chain. The report will be tabled during the Seminar.
