Dear ,

I would think that fresh aloe vera straight from the plant would be much

better than anything you could buy from a shop.

Chris.

If you take aloe vera juice for you stomach can you just run leaves thru

your juicer? I don't need it right now, but I do have a plant.

and group,

I don't remember where I read this but I wondered the same thing-why

couldn't I chew the leaves.Absolutely not! the article said there is

something toxic or an irritant if used this way. Don't do it until further

research. Helen

According to my favorite herb books, aloe vera contains powerful natural

laxative chemicals called anthraquinones. Commission E (Germany) endorses

for treating chronic constipation with " certain reservations " , generally

recommended as a last resort, can be unpleasantly powerful, may cause bloody

diarrhea and vomiting and iritate the digestive tract. Should not be taken

over long periods of time, may cause laxative dependency, contraindicated

while pregnant or nursing. LizG

A teaspoon three times a day is not an adequate dosage - especially so

if you have a

poor grade product.

Dosage depends upon the condition you are using it for. For instance,

for those people who have problems with sensitive stomachs after taking

medication, the recommended dosage is 2 to 3 ounces three to four times

a day.

Dr. Terry Pulse (Texas) has treated AIDS patients successfully with aloe

vera. He says aloe vera is to AIDS patients what insulin is to a

diabetic. There is a study going on right now in the Netherlands, China

and Mexico using IV aloe vera for cancer. Earlier this year I spent a

very interesting afternoon with the researcher/physician conducting this

study. Years ago, he put his 4 year old grandson's leukemia in

remission with aloe vera.

Gloria,

I was drinking 8 to 12 ounces a day (I weigh 250 lbs.) And since I

purchased it a gallon at a time, there seemed to be an impulse to 'get rid

of it' so I did. Some product has labeling indicating it needs

refrigeration, and other brands mention nothing. I treat it like parmesan

cheese and some sauces; as long as it consumed, leave it out. Just so it is

stored in a cool, dry place. If you have room in the refrigerator, that is

the safest place.

The following statement may not make any sense to you (or anyone else for

that fact), but I always thought of aloe like ammonia. It is difficult to

classify, chemically. Kind of a funny analogy I know, but aloe has

properties that put it in a class of its' own. And few people agree on why

it is so good. I just know it is good for the stomach and whole digestive

system. Darn good for the skin also.

Take Care.

There was a study at a medical school in San , Texas using oral

aloe vera

juice in scleroderma, 3 ounces three times a day sipped between meals.

The

patients were followed up for several months but after six weeks the

three patients that

had esophageal changes had returned to normal, and symptomatically they

all

improved enormously because the polysaccharides coat the

gastrointestinal

tract and protect it from mechanical and obnoxious agents.

Thanks for that info Ethel.

Coats produces a pharmaceutical grade aloe vera used both orally and

intravenously in medical studies all over the world. They produce a flavored

liquid aloe that is excellent. I have visited with Bill Coats, R.Ph.C.C.N

and later visited his plant where I tasted their aloe drinks. Bill is a

registered pharmacist (and author), and a leading internationally recognized

expert in use of aloe.

Coats does not produce aloe vera in capsules, but there are two sources that

do produce quality product -

AloeMaster in Dallas or Allied Pharmacy in Arlington, TX. Contact

information maybe on www.rheumatic.org.

I have not seen any improvement with Aloe Vera juice at all :( I tried it for 3

months. Is that enough to see if you get at least a little better? It was some

pure form, not the one with lots of junk in it.

It's gel not juice. I would think it would be long enough if your problem

could be helped with aloe vera gel. Maybe you could try to add Glutamine.

Hi Team!

Wow, it's a bright, beautiful, sunny day in the neighborhood today.

Does anyone know if there is a good use for the leaf of the aloe vera

plant once I have scraped out the gel? Seems like a waste to just

throw away the leaf! Thanks.

Peace on earth.

From my files

Aloe Vera

In a meeting early last year with Dr. Ivan Danof, one of the leading

investigators into aloe vera, and the physician who holds an IND for a study

using intravenous aloe in Hepatitis C and terminal cancer patients, he told

me the following:

Aloe vera mucilaginous polysaccharide is a long chain sugar molecule

composed of individual mannose and glucose sugar molecules connected

together. The small molecules (50 to 600) reduce inflammation in such

diseases as ulcerative colitis, arthritis and gastric reflux. It also helps

with reduction of blood sugar with both type I and type II diabetes.

The medium size molecules (up to 1500) are very effective intracellular

antioxidents and free radical scavengers - very important in preventing and

treating arteriosclerosis, heart disease and Parkinson's disease.

(Vitamins and minerals only function outside the cells.) With the ever

increasing pollution of the planet and loss of nutrients in the soil, the

increase in free radicals and loss of cellular oxygen will only become worse

with time - making aloe vera mucilaginous polysaccharides even more

important than ever.

The larger molecules - up to 5,000, have a direct anti-bacterial and

anti-viral effect - very important with all the new infectious diseases

cropping up and the older ones becoming moe virulent from long term use of

antibiotics.

The very large molecules - upto 9,000 - are immune modulating, which have a

powerful healing effect on AIDS, cancer and many different immune system

disorders. It is also this large molecule that causes the body to produce a

natural chemical, tumor necrosis factor, that functions to shut off the

blood supply to tumors.

There are very few aloe vera products on the market that contain stabilized

mucilaginous polysaccharides.

Two good sources for aloe vera are Coats International and AloeMaster.

then wouldn't aloe vera incr the autoimmune reaction to your joints? our

TNF cells are already overactive with RA. why woudl we want to increase

their action?

thanks
