Guest guest
Caelen, I went to www.er4yt.org to the list before Learn Right. On Steve Shapiro's food list 9 you need to use the book to figure out the password to the list) there is a list of all the foods in alphabetical order for each blood type. It list as reasons when the food is an avoid. Re: EPO - oops! > Hi , > Thanks for the answer. Guest guest
Have either of your kids run the test with s Hopkins for EFAs??? We were told to take Evening Primrose oil from them for the DHA part of Omega 3s. My son has a peroxisomal disorder and can't have EPAs. So maybe the DHA part is why you've been told to take it. For my son it helps in the mylination part of the nerves in his brain. Guest guest
Hi Jen - well no we actually do not have access to all the tests here in NZ - we don't even have a Dan Doctor! so its trial and error - I can usually tell what my boys need by the reaction they give - and since you just said it helps with mylination of the brain then we are on the right track as my little one had an brain scan at 9 months and it showed that he had delayed mylination at about a 4 month level - so when I set out before I found these boards I was heading down the MS track as I knew I just needed to work out how to encourage the mylination growth. Regards Terri NZ Re: [ ] Evening Primrose >Have either of your kids run the test with s Hopkins for EFAs??? We were told to take Evening Primrose oil from them for the DHA part of Omega 3s. Guest guest
EPO does not have any DHA or a significant amount of omega 3's. It is an omega 6 supplement. Guest guest
Thanks , just worried that everyone but me knew that evening primrose oil caused sore throats! Glad this apparently isn't so. DH started with a sore throat/cough this afternoon so I am assuming we just have crud moving through the family. I think I will stop the supplement for a few days then restart to get a clearer idea of pos or negs without the illness. Guest guest
I take evening primrose. No ill effects, very benign. Not sure it does anything however. > > I was recently told to try taking evening primrose for my ms. I was > told to give it to my 6 year old for her psoriasis. Do any of you take > this supplement? Guest guest
Evening primrose oil (EPO) is an omega 6 fatty acid and it can be very beneficial in the right dose -- however, I wouldn't know what amount to give a 6yr old. ?? The Life Extension website has several articles about psoriasis -- and some do mention EPO... they even have Health Advisors that you can call...???... dunno...just an idea. Guest guest
Evening Primrose Oil for Lowering Cholesterol Evening primrose seeds contain an oil with a high concentration of compounds rarely found in plants: essential fatty acids, specifically gamma-linolenic acid. In one study, reported in The Review of Natural Products, 79 people with high cholesterol took 4 grams of Efamol every day for three months (which provides about 320 mg of GLA), and their average cholesterol level fell 31.5 percent. The suggested dose for evening primrose oil starts at 1-gram gelcaps twice or three times a day. High cholesterol requires professional care, so consult your physician about GLA. Evening Primrose Oil for Rheumatoid Arthritis also The EFAs in EPO are also a powerful anti-inflammatory. University of Pennsylvania researchers gave 37 arthritis sufferers borage oil (which contains GLA) or a placebo, The placebo had no effect, but the herb group reported 45 percent less pain with no side effects. Other studies utilizing GLA obtained similar results. Rheumatoid arthritis requires professional care, so consult your physician about GLA.
