Guest guest
Dawn, Is this audiologist experienced in working with people with cognitive delays or at least young children? I would certainly consider a second opinion We had a reversed situation. 's hearing loss went undetected until he was 10 due to inexperienced audiologists. We finally found one at a university speech and hearing clinic. She is the only one I will recommend. Found out today that an audiologist feels my 14 needs hearing aids. We had his hearing checked not too long ago and they were re-checking due to many sinus issues this winter. Can this happen so quickly? Should I have second opinion? I have absolutely no experience with hearing issues. She (audiologist) told hubby to get the paperwork started. What does that mean? Something about getting the state to pay for. Have any of you had to deal with hearing issues? What should I be asking/looking for? Hubby is really upset – wonders when our little man will get a break. I don’t want to dwell on that – guess I deal better one thing at a time. Any help would be really appreciated. Guest guest
Our story is similar......didn't know my son had complete hearing loss in his right ear until he was about 12 years old! I wish I knew then what I know now! He learned to read lips very well. His deafness explains why he always tilted his head too!
