The player uses memory cards and it comes with a card that holds 250 songs. It has a button that you hold and then shake, and it changes the song. You can also twist the bottom to move the songs forward or backward. LOVES it and we've transferred all his favorite songs from his CDs ( has eclectic taste...everything from Amy Winehouse's " Rehab " to Barney's " I Love you " song!).
