I'm not sure how old Kai is but even if he is an older baby I'm sure

his head has grown since his original casting six weeks ago and the

new band would not fit well without another casting being done

first. I would definitely insist on it myself.

I was thinking that since it's been a while since Kai was casted,

his head probably changed a bit. He has lost some beneficial time

in the band, so he could probably could get better results with a

new band than getting in the old one. Since it was the orthotist's

fault, I personally think Kai deserves a new one.

I remember someone saying a few weeks ago how their daughter was in

some program where she got a new helmet every 6 weeks. That would

be great - except for the nasty casting! I bet they see great

results quickly.

Hi :

I unfortunately learned the hard way just how important a good cast

is. Kai is quite young yet, (6 mos right?) which means his head is

growing rather rapidly still. 6 weeks has gone by since his original

cast - 6 wks of growing probably. Getting a good cast & that perfect

fit is essential to these bands working properly with all the

pressure points, etc......are you sure the " trim lines " of Kai's band

were the only problems with it? Wasn't he having bad red marks that

wouldn't go away? If so, I would assume that the problems he was

having with his band had to do with the inside of his band as well as

the trimlines - I am only GUESSING here - so take my words for what

they're worth :).

Since his new band will be in tomorrow already, see how it fits him

then go from there. IF you have ANY problems with it at all - insist

on a 2nd cast (which s/b no charge to you) to get an entirely new

band.

I hope I didn't scare you seems how I was the 1st one to mention you

might need an entirely new cast vs. going from his original cast. I

just want to make sure Kai's little head gets rounder & you don't

have any future problems :).

Let us know what your orthotist says if you talk to him today,

otherwise I really hope his 2nd band fits well tomorrow - Let us know

how it all goes.

Good luck.
