Very Very Late Roll Call

Hi all,

I will reintroduce myself as I haven't written in for a while. I have been a

member for a very long time, some of you may remember me as I was quiet

active for a while.

I'm Trish and we live in Ballina on the Far North Coast of NSW Australia

(Yes another Aussie). I have a Partner of 10 Years and a son Danny

21 and a very beautiful daughter Jodie 17 DS (will be 18 on 16th May Leis

due date).

Jodie had a VSD repair at 10 weeks old and numerous chest infections and

asthma for several years, other than an underactive thyroid her health was

great until May last year when she was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes and is

now on 5 injections a day and she is doing great now but the first few

months after being diagnose was very hard. Jodie will never be able to

understand the dosages for her injections but I hope one day she will be

able to give herself injections with supervision.

Jodie attends a Catholic College and is repeating Year 11 this year as she

missed about 4 months with her diabetes last year, I think the extra year at

school will be a great benefit to her. The school has been fantastic, they

even give her, her lunchtime injection of Insulin. Jodie starts back at

school on Friday (remember our school year is February - December ). Jodie

is mainstreamed and has an aide with her wherever she goes, she does

English, Maths and Computer in a special classroom but for everything else

she is mainstream and really enjoys it.

Jodie loves her MP3 Player , Music CD's and of course DVD's and yes she

lines them up, she can't read very well but she can tell you the name of

every

DVD and Video she owns.

In December Jodie swam with a dolphin at Sea World on the Gold Coast and I

have never seen her so happy. I will try and post some photo's at .

To , where do you live on the Mid North Coast , I would love to meet

you one day.

If you know of anyone that has a child/adult with Ds and diabetes, I would

love to chat to them.

I will try and be more involved this year as I do really enjoy reading the

emails.
