Guest guest
Dear all, The attorney lit a fire under their butts!!! It was evident in all that came out in droves for the big " POWWOW " on Thursday. [have to use POWWOW b/c we live in the land of Native America!HA!] Our attorney was present via conference call. The Principal did not know how to make the phone conference in since it was a cordless phone. I quickly changed that and showed her how to turn up the volume and make it where everyone could hear. There were 8 school personel there and two of them were new to us. We had no idea who they were. They came out of the woodwork!! The attorney had written a 2 page letter with 4 pages of additional attachments and faxed it to the Superintendant's office and also the State dept. of Sped. On it was a description of the incident in her lingo and also a bulleted list of items for the resolution to the problem. They had done all but one thing on the list. The attorney felt it was safe to allow her to return to class based on the school's progress thus far. So, we allowed her to return. We are still awaiting the school's investigation of the " Playman/Robo " electric chair for to utilize in the classroom. I'm betting they won't buy it and we'll have to have another fight on our hands. Since has Cerebral Palsy and Down syndrome, she has limited means of mobility and independance. This was the reason for suggesting a loaner/rent/buy of the Playman/Robo by Permobil. We'll see. and the little boy who attacked her will be getting an assistive tech eval out of the deal and the school has contacted Dr. Riffel (www.behaviordoctor.org). Dr. Riffel will be doing a consult with the school about how to handle this little boy's behavior. HOORAY! We are pleased that the suffereing brought about change. This was our prayer. Thanks for all who have followed, thought and prayed about our and our family. Rebekah Oklahoma , (8) DS/CP, Gtube, hearing impaired, bilateral derotation osteotomies with heel cord releases, feeding disorder, esotropia, AFOs, WC for mobility Jo, (2 3/4) and SO SO SO TYPICALLY TERRIBLE at her age!
