Guest guest
Hi All, I do not post very often. My son Sam will be 3 in April - He is an amazing little guy who can sign and talk and has a great sense of humor. I am getting very frustrated with his in ability to walk, yet, though! We started private PR last summer because he was not creeping or pulling to stand. I work with him constantly - He is able to walk a couple of steps IF we can figure out what motivates him.. Last Thursday we gave him a paintbrush, a cup of paint and a small table - everytime he went to load the brush with paint we pulled the table away from him a few feet. He took 5 or 6 steps to the table and painted (getting the walls, floor and PT along the way, too)! His knees and hips are LOCKED in position which is why I think he can only go a few steps. We have tried braces, AFO's, APO's, orthotics, walkers, tricycles etc... Even the PT is baffled. We work on his trunk muscles and his quads but do not seem to get any improvement in tone and strength. I should probably just let him get there when he wants to, but I am having difficulty getting preschools to even look at him since he is not walking. Has anyone else been through what appears to be complete rejection of all help to walk? IF not, thanks for listening. Barb R.
