Guest guest
Hello, The insurance company finally called me back. They said they needed a letter of medical necessity from my physical therapist and primary care physican and they would review the request again. It sounds like there was nothing sent to them like this before. It seems that they got a request for a helmet with no explaination for why it was needed. I hope this is all we need! 's helmet is fitting better now that she had some shaved off by her eyes and ear. They also put some padding by the ears and the back of her head to keep it from slipping so much. I am having trouble, however, keeping the pads stuck to the foam on the helmet. I have even tried super glue, but they still seem to be coming off. Anybody have any suggestions? Guest guest
Helen, I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you that the letters of medical necessity is all it takes for your insurance to cover 's helmet. I don't have any experience with a helmet, so I can't give you any advice regarding the pads, other than give your ortho a call. Good luck and keep us posted! Guest guest
Helen, Hopefully the letters of medical necessity are all they need. Often times orthotics and DME are only covered by your policy if they can be proven medically necessary. Good luck with that and let us know how it turns out. Regarding the pads - you may want to call your ortho and see what he/she suggests you do to keep the pads in. It may be that the ortho needs to reattach them. You definitely don't want them coming out as they could be a choking hazard! Marci (Mom to ) Oklahoma
