Hi yall

I am mostly a lurker on this board, but when this Granny thing started going

around, my ears started burnin!

It turns out that my great grandmother was an Aunt to Granny’s dearly

departed husband, Bordages. This (I think) makes us distant cousins. And

if you know anything about those crazy Cajuns, we are all related somehow or

another!

So I have found a long lost “Cuzin Granny†and I am sooooooo EXCITED!!

So look out Mr. Tim, I am prepared to assist my Cuz in whoopin your tail

too!!!!!!

I think we might be related

Hi Granny,

I just read your story and I think you are amazing! But something else caught my

eye. I see you are from the Beaumont area and most of my family is from there.

Then, I noticed your last name “Bordages†and it sounds very familiar. My

mom’s side of the family was huge and mostly Cajun, so there are many

relatives I have not ever met. I know of (not sure of the spelling) the Bordages

Nuns to whom I am distantly related. So anyway, let me give you some info and

maybe you can help me connect the dots!

My Mother’s Maiden name is Joanie Marie Leicht and I think her mother’s

maiden name was Marie Spence.

My mother’s father was Harry Leicht Jr. and his mother (my granny) was

Leicht but it used to be (again unsure of the spelling) Beaumason

My mom has an older sister Carol Leicht Erwin and twin younger siblings Becky

Leicht and Byron Leicht who recently passed.

My father is Jerry T. Dinkins Sr. and his mother was Hilda Kohler and his Father

was Albert (we knew him as Jack) Dinkins. His parents lived at 2226 Ave D from

the time my grandfather was born there until he passed back in the 1980’s. My

grandmother “NaNa†Lived there until she joined “PawPaw†sometime in the

late 90’s. I think my uncle (Monsignor) Jack still keeps the old house up and

visits every Thursday to Saturday. Unfortunately the family that was once so

close has drifted far apart.

My dad has two older brothers, Monsignor Jack Dinkins, and Dinkins.

Both my parents grew up in Beaumont and graduated from the old St. High

School. My mom graduated from Sacred Heart college in Houston.

So does it ring any bells for ya? I would love to be in touch with a long lost

relative if you could put up with me!
