Guest guest
Dear group, Sorry to get all of you pumped up around here. If you knew me, you'd find that I often disagree with the man of my house, my dear husband Jeff. This is something I have to work on seeing that it is unscriptural,....but I WON'T get into that on here. However, here's what has transpired thus far.... I picked my dear up from school and bawlled all the way to the hairdresser. I was just so mad at the whole thing! The teacher never once offered an explanation of how this happened to and where she or the aids had gone wrong. PLUS, to top that, the Nurse called my husband to tell him of the injuries and just told him that there was a scratch on her neck and one under her right eye. That was way, way, way an UNDERSTATEMENT. I called my pediatrician's office directly while driving (of course) to make an emergency appointment. If he couldn't see her, I was taking her to the Children's hosital ER. I knew what to do for her injuries but I wanted her seen and the incident documented. I wanted to protect OURSELVES and our . I took her there to his office along with my 2 year old and my husband at 5:15pm. He was very very upset. He said she had peticea (I'm not spelling it right) but it is broken blood vessels from her face and neck being squeezed. She also had numerous, too many to count, scratches where the boys' fingernails dug into her skin. She has deep tissue bruising all over as well. She also had a place on her right forearm where he grabbed her and red marks on her left shoulder. WHEW! This is a lot of typing! Anyway, He asked us to send him the pictures I took earlier and to go directly to the Principal's office to speak with her first thing in the morning. Wednesday (yesterday), my hubby called to speak with the teacher. We did NOT send to school and would not be bringing her back to the classroom until it was resolved. We got the full story from the teacher.....She let down out of her chair to go play in the ballpit with two other female students. This boy, Bryce, was in a little play tent in the same area as the ball pit. [Here's the intersting thing....Bryce is BLIND!] was in the ball pit playing and he came over and starting swiping his hands. THe next thing the teacher heard was screaming. She had turned her back and headed into another part of another room to assist two other students when this occurred. She ran in there and Bryce was on top of our daughter with his hand on 's face holding and squeezing it. This had to have occurred for several minutes, as I have sent some of you pictures of her injuries. The pictures don't do it much justice. The teacher took full responsibility for not supervising these students. I am furious for several reasons and yes, I have contacted an attorney's office that represents disabled children/adults. #1. The Nurse downplayed my daughter's injuries and did not tell me that I needed to come see about my child right then. was traumatized over this. #2. The Principal wasn't available to speak to me yesterday whatsoever. She was in a mandatory training all day and NO one else is manning the school when she is gone. I had to wait until this morning to speak with her. Then, I had to call her back and raise CAIN because she didn't have the guts to call me and set up a time to talk. #3. This child is still in the classroom. I asked that he be removed but they won't talk to me about his personal disciplinary actions because it is confidential. #4. The aid that works with all the time, a, followed me out to the car today. I noticed a bruise on her right arm near her wrist. I said, " Oh my goodness. Did he do that? " She said, " Yes, he did. " She said, " You want to see something else. " I said, " Sure " . She pulled back her shirt near her right collarbone and there was a bite mark from the same child. A bruise. THIS IS WHY THE CHILD NEEDS TO BE REMOVED! Not only is he hurting my , He's hurting the staff. #5. The parents of this child couldn't even call or write us a note and say, " I'm sorry that my child hurt your child. " #6. Who pays the doctor bill? I don't feel like my private insurance and Medicaid should pay it. Even though she has both, why should they pay it? It should be paid by his parents. There is a lot more to this story but I hate to take up all the space. Yes, I do have BALLS even though I am a SAVED born again Christian. It doesn't mean I'm going to let anything slide. This will not go unnoticed and they will do something. I'm waiting to hear from this OK Disability Law Center. I phoned them this morning around 9am. I am not out for blood or vengence; as vengence is not for me to administer. I just want my daughter to be safe in the Least restrictive environment with a FREE and APPROPRIATE education. Oh, and I have to add a bit more of background for my little lady ....She's 8 and has a dual diagnosis of DS and Cerebral Palsy. She is hearing impaired with bilateral aids, has a gtube for supplemental nutrition and hydration and doesn't walk. She also has had bilateral derotation osteotomies (hip surgeries) in the last 8 months and been in two casts from the waist down and 2 braces also from the waist down. NO, she could not defend herself and nor would she if she could move around. She is a very, sweet loving DS child and would not harm a flea. I'm DONE now. Thank you very much for all your prayers and words of encouragement. I promise I won't ignite another fire around here.
